My busy kids..

The twins didn't get home until about 12:30 last night from their band show. This morning one of them had to get to the school by 8am. He's doing tech crew for the middle school musical, and once that is over he'll do tech crew for the high school musical. He also plans on being in a church musical, and those rehearsals start this weekend but of course he'll miss the first couple of weeks, and the director knows that and is fine with it. He has starred in the last 3 church musicals, and my younger 2 boys have also been in the last 2 and will be in this one as well. At least Marching Band will end after next weekend, and soccer is already over.. so that will make life slightly less busy. But drumline, winterguard, and basketball will be starting up in the next couple of months. Summer is pretty much the only time we don't have a lot of stuff going on.

Sounds very busy indeed. It was like that when we were kids also as us girls did alot of sports and my parents were always on the go doing each activity we were in. Keeping busy like that keeps you out of trouble.

Cary is the only one who is active in things like that. Yesterday I did food at an all day band review. Next time I hope to actually see him perform.

@katsmeow1213 We bring food to the games and all the band reviews, fortunately the band only plays at home games, but band reviews are all over the place.

@dawnald Oh so they're not a competing Marching Band? We only play at a couple home football games a year, we're too busy with competitions.

We have to do that at the home shows, but there's only 1 per season so that's not bad.

This isn't school though, it's extra curricular activities. I like that we're busy. I get really bored when there's nothing going on.

@Samanthavv It's for the kids, and as any parent, I'll do whatever it takes to make my kids happy and give them a brighter future. They enjoy their hobbies and it's good for them, so it makes me happy.

That does sound like a busy schedule. Its great thought that your children are so involved with their church and school. Its wonderful to hear that some children are so great in things rather then hearing about them on the streets causing trouble. I really hope they all enjoy being involved with others and giving back to their community as much as they do. I hope you do enjoy your summers and take time to enjoy each others company when you guys are all less busy, Its important to be a family though even though you all are so busy. Have a good night.

We try to do some stuff together in the summer. We can't do much during the year anymore because Marching Band keeps us so busy. We haven't done our usual fall activities in a couple years now. This year we didn't even carve pumpkins. We just get so wrapped up in what's going on that when we get a free minute we don't want to do anything at all.

Over all I let them decide what they're doing, and I do try to talk them into not giving up on things. My daughter doesn't want to do Marching Band next year. I want to try to convince her to do it, but ultimately it will be up to her. I'll just remind her all the stuff she'll miss out on if she doesn't do it, just to be sure that she's sure.

@PainsOnSlate She went to SU? Did I tell you I'm from Syracuse? That's awesome! My son plans on staying in Marching Band.. my daughter is more into science and wants to go to college for that so she wants to focus on her grades instead of activities.

@katsmeow1213 My sister stayed in Marching Band and when she went to college (syracuse) she ended up going to Europe with the marching band.

Whether it is the kids' choice or parents helping them out with selecting activities I have noticed this with kids in the US - always up to their neck with activities.

Yes, you are right. Your twins son is so busy kids with a number of activities at the school and at another place. I think it takes most all their time to play. So that, they are forget with their schedule when they have time to having fun. Yes, it is a natural habit of kids. Take it easy...
