My short holiday of sorts has messed up my routine.. I haven't cooked and cleaned in a week .. and its back to reality now. The house is dusty though I always clean up my house before I leave it.The laundry basket is overflowing. Things are thrown around everywhere since we unpacked yesterday. Dishes are piled up and I just have two hands .. Yesterday was my son's birthday so there was a lot of cooking to do and guests all day and so the dishes, I wish I wasn't feeling this tired and lost ..not knowing where to start,. I know by the end of the day the house will be more like home we once knew.. so wish me luck. Hope you have a great week ahead.

Just a little suggestion to deal with feeling over-whelmed. Do your chores in ten minute bursts of energy and focus on one area. Then do something less task oriented

@ElizabethWallace My problem actually is getting started.. however today I was able to get most of the stuff done and out of the way. Thank you for the great suggestion.. I will put that to good use tomorrow.

@ElizabethWallace I hope so too. I need to get started in a little while now. Best wishes on your book. I am sure that you are your own best motivator.

@sofssu I hope it works well for you. It does for me. But what I need is motivation to finish the book I am writing.

@Juliaacv Thank you.. reality is covered in dust and dirt..lol.. Letting it slide a little may mean rolling around in dust.

At my place it has always been different. Having had maids to care for us, the moment we returned a clean house would be welcoming us with good food on the table.

@allknowing cool .. We used to have one years ago but I kind of never liked the way she cooked.. or left the kitchen. My husband was totally not keen.. I guess we have fussy eaters at home.

I missed this discussion yesterday. I know what you mean about the routine and it being messed up. To me that is one of the down falls of taking a vacation. It takes me time to get back into my normal routine.

@sofssu Oh yes, no doubt. At least you don't have a job outside the home, then it would be that much worse.

@sofssu very relaxing apart from a couple of doggie misadventures. Today it's already as if I've never been.

I am afraid my house looks like that every day. It will get straightened up to a reasonable level, but it's never going to be neat and tidy.

@Rollo1 You cannot imagine the amount of dust collected in five days.. I am sure your house will surely be better than this.. anyways.. I have dusted swept and mopped the first floor today.. Tomorrow I will do the rest.

Oh I know the feeling too well. I always feel like that after returning from a holiday. I usually try to do things one step at a time and not think about everything at the same time. It makes it less overwhelming. Don't worry, you'll manage to get back in the routine soon.

@cahaya1983 Yeah..i agree.. I just did the dishes.. one load is on in the washing machine. I need to dust now and sweep and mop later in the day.. That would make the house livable.

I hate when everything is a mess like that, I have a bit of a melt down. So I pick one room, and clean it, so I have a place to retreat as I try and get the rest of the world manageable

Just take it one step at a time so you don't overwhelm yourself, take a day to unwind and then get started on it one room at a time.

@cintol I find that very unnerving.. so i got a whole lot of it done yesterday and feel much better for it.. Today I can take it slow and have some me time.

So how's your home by now? Have you placed everything in order? I am actually in the same situation. We had a family get together yesterday so my place is so messy. Good that my husband is here to help me out.
