I am being followed by a number

I got a notification that I have a new follower. He (?) has a very strange name. It consists of numbers. Ten numbers, to be exact. Like a phone number with area code. This follower has no activity, and apparently, no name. Now and again I gain a follower who doesn't have any posts. But usually, they have activity and their profile will show me the responses they've made on discussions. I know that this person is an active member of the community. Hey, not everyone wants to write. But I am a little wary of followers who don't have anything. How can anyone start following people before they've so much as read a discussion - any discussion? What do you do when someone follows you but doesn't have any activity to tell you anything about them? Do you ignore it and wait? Follow them back? Block them? Hide your cash and jewelry?

I would ignore it and wait, I think. That is very odd.

People often choose screen names, but rarely do they choose to be a number.

I was 008 ter yesterday. I usually does not follow back a member who has no activity, because some of them were spammers sending PMs in the past. However, there are also many lurkers joining myLot just to read the discussions, and several are following me.

@Rollo1 Any forum has lurkers. Some of them will perhaps join the fun and post someday.

It's impossible to form an opinion unless he/she does something, but I find it odd when people gather friends but don't participate.

@Rollo1 he has only been on a day so he may be reading work while biding time - he hasn't added me yet but when you mentioned him I looked for him on your list of followers

Some people rarely write. Or maybe they spend time reading and responding for a while before they write. But usually, they do something.

I just received the same notification and I have no idea who it is. Wonder what this one is all about.

I don't know. It doesn't make sense to collect people to follow if you aren't going to be active.

@Rollo1 Yah it does if your going to spam them then you can block them if they do this.

I just leave them there, hopefully they will have a discussion later. I will check out how long they've become a member for. If it's just a stalker then will probably just block them

Names are far more important and relevant than numbers. Good luck with your postings.

I am not sure what harm any follower can do to my activity here and so I do not consider it to be a serious issue unless you have something that you would want to share here.

I've had several followers like that. I just ignore them, they should know better the whole point of joining myLot in the first place. If they don't have any intention to interact, why join in the first place?

Maybe wait and see. I wouldn't really do anything until he has a little more activity. That's what I would do.

I have a personal rule against following members with no activity. Periodically I check on these accounts to see if they have finally posted anything.

If I had any valuables, I think that I would hide them just in case. Then again, if he (or she) is just waiting and watching, then you might be leading them right to exactly what they want. On second thought, I think that I would leave the things right where they are and just keep vigilant to see whether or not he (or she) pops out at you in a dark alley.
