Can't Believe It Happened Again

Well, I just can’t believe it happened again. I was on the way home from work today. Once again, I was coming over the bridge to go by the travel center. A car stopped at the stop sign. Then it turned of the direction to come by me. I slammed on the brakes and gave him a big honk of my horn. What is going on? People need to stop being in such a hurry. They either didn't see me or didn't care. Once again, it's a good thing I was alert.

That's happening so often these days, people just don't pay attention to what they're doing and I strongly suspect that many have those hands free hookups in their cars and their conversations with whoever is distracting them.

And now they've developed a car that drives itself, @Susan2015 , at least those that find it necessary to constantly text or talk will make good use out of a car like that. I'm sticking with my manual shift and no cell while driving. I'll pull over to the side if I need to call someone.

@rebelann Don't think I want a car that drives itself. It would be good for those that don't pay attention to the road.

Wow, sounds like you had another close call. I was listening to the news this morning, and with the time change, experts say that it takes about 3 days for the change to catch up to our systems, and then the stats also say that there is an increase in traffic accidents in the early evening as people are adjusting to driving in the dark. So......you please be careful next week!

Yes, it sure was good you were being alert. It's like we are invisible to people sometimes or something. I'm glad you laid on the horn too. They need to know what they did is not exceptable

I've barely saved myself from being hit by texting drivers who were running red lights twice. It's extra important to be alert these days.

@Susan2015 Precisely. One benefit of driving pick-ups and SUVs is that I can see what's happening ahead of me. I do not tailgate, and I check my mirrors frequently too.

Precisely, we must always be vigilant at the wheel, unfortunately, as much as we are experts in driving, often the danger comes from the others!

@Susan2015 In this regard, I quote a phrase of Jesus Christ, taken directly from the Gospel (of Matthew), "Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour." If the owner had known what hour the thief was coming, only then he would know to be ready. But not knowing exactly "neither the day, nor the hour", he must always remain vigilant!

It is good you watch closely when you are on that road. I am glad you avoided an accident and are safe. You are right too many people are in too much of a hurry when they drive.

@Susan2015 Here a few people do this they pass and then find out that the car ahead of me is driving so slow. So what did they gain - nothing.

@Susan2015 I agree. I once had to slam on my brakes because the guy had his turn signal on to turn, okay I waited, then he turned it off, so I started, only to have him decide to turn after all. I was very lucky I didn't get into an accident with his indecision.

I am sorry that happened to you again, it reminds me of how I got rear ended not once but twice in less than a 10 year period. I really don't know what to expect anymore when I am driving.

I do not know if people do not care, or if they are so distracted by their navigators, cell phones and other gadgets that they really see nothing.
