Some Restaurants- Adults Only

restaurant adults only

I was at a restaurant on Thursday and there were two families with children there. The one family had two little boys that were just angles and the other family had a boy and a girl who were screaming and running around like they were playing outside. The staff had so many complaints that the manager had to come out and talk to the parents who immediately stood up and got their children and walked out. The husband did come back in and paid his bill and said we will never come back here again. lol No one wanted them to come back again so I do believe that is why some restaurants will start serving adults only and children will not be welcome. I personally think it is about time as some people just let their children run wild.

I could take my 4 boys anyplace and they knew how to act although at times I would have to tell them to be quiet or else. They knew when I said Or Else they would be in trouble.

It depends on the restaurant, some restaurants cater to families and some don't. But it's not a good idea to take children to a restaurant where they cater to adults. It's not fair on the kids, either, because it may require a type of behavior from them that they are not yet capable of displaying.

I did not enjoy my meal until that family left but they should not let the children rule them as the parents should take control, just think what they will be like when they are older, I shudder to think.

@Rosekitty @Marcyaz Boy, that apron gets so much attention. This is why the restaurants are now adults only - and they have added cannoli's to the dessert menu. I need to ask Sexy Texas Rose if my winter uniform has been ordered or is she just gonna throw me a pair of long-johns.

@Marcyaz Let's see..you greet people and ask for their reservation since it takes 3 months to get in..they are seated in a place filled with people walking around covered in food, who come up to you and ask you to take a sample..hahah..you make your order and @howard96h comes out in his apron to serve you..dessert is only brownies..

I don´t know whether there should be adult only restaurants. But what I´m sure of is that parents should make their children behave or else. The nice children should not pay for what the other children did.

I object to parents who take their kids out and expect everybody else to keep an eye on them.

It does seem like some parents do want others to watch their children.

My hubby and I went to lunch in a seafood restaurant. Touristy not cheap place. We invited my niece and her little daughter. Little daughter skipped around, rearranging a vacant table's napkins and water glasses. Niece finally got her kiddo corralled. I found the little one obnoxious as she intently stripped the restaurant's crayons of their papers. Maybe children expect such freedom these days? And when they get their food, they don't eat it?

I think maybe your niece needs to take a tougher stand with her daughter and teach her how to act properly in public. I would be extremely upset if I bought her food and she didn't eat it.

@Marcyaz I think they took the kiddo's portion home. I just wasn't too sure about the kiddo buzzing around the restaurant freely.

Marcy..I love kids. I would never take them where they would feel so out of place or others would be uncomfortable because of my kids. So I think it is the parents who needed some nut tightening because they should have by now realized that kids are going to be playful.

They should take their children to a place like McDonalds instead of a nice restaurant. People do know generally how their children will act and if they know they are unruly then they should not take them to a nice restaurant.

@Marcyaz ..that is what..some people like to curtail kids, or impose their kids on others. Why on earth would I want to kill children's spontaneity for the benefit of strangers? I am not going to live that moment again. Those are my memories with kids. So no way would I take them to a place where they have to behave like adults.

I think the parents should have taught the children how to behave in public places Well,if the children never behave properly, they should not have been taken along. It is more the fault of the parents.

It is the fault of the parents if their child acts up like that. The parent should be able to say Settle Down and they will but if they say nothing and let the child act like that then it is because the child is in charge instead of the parent.

Not all parents disciplined their children and teach them how to act in the public, specially in the restaurants. So, I think it's better if establishments would just serve adults and not those with children because it causes disturbance with other customers.

One kind of restaurant should be for adults only and another for those for children then that would be a happy experience for all involved. Although we must remember there for those children who know how to act properly when out in public.

@Letranknight2015 I don't think it will lower profits as a lot of people will be relieved they don't have to listen to children screaming and running around causing a disturbance which will draw more people to those restaurants.

@Marcyaz It's sad that it has reached that point were Restaurants have to choose their customers, were a while back adults supposed to apologize for the children's rude behavior. It's really in the past now, bad for business though they have to choose customers, lowers profit.

Although I do adore the little ones, there is a time and a place for them. Quite often if we are going to go out for a nice dinner, we want to relax and unwind together, and I can understand parents wanting to do the same, but that is when they need to hire a babysitter so that the atmosphere at the eatery is quiet and relaxing and not full of shouts and screams. And at the rate that our society is changing, I think that some establishments need to enforce a no cellphone conversation policy. Have you ever been out and had to listen to someone talking away on their cellphone? It is never a quiet conversation, and usually you see other patrons rolling their eyes when that occurs.

You are correct there is a time and and a place for children and the cell phones are disruptive also with some people speaking so loud that everyone can hear.

When I first saw the title of your discussion I thought it might be like a few restaurants we had here where the waitresses were topless and the waiter wore skimpy Speedo bathing suits!! PS They are all closed now--no business!!!

@lokisdad Good for you now days so many parents will not spank their chilren when they need it. That is what I like to hear is a parent who will put the child over their knees and give them a good spanking so they remember how to act.

@Marcyaz I sure do I show them how I act up and put them over my knee and spank their butts for everyone to see they get embarrassed and when we go home they are punished until they remember how to behave in public.

It is totally and completely irresponsible of the parents to allow their children to run riot especially in a restaurant. I chastised my grandson only the other day for leaving the table when he had not finished his meal and I don't care if I am deemed the old grumpy grandad. We would never have dared do that when we were younger! Oh my! Well I hope you enjoyed the rest of your meal in peace! Bravo to the parents who show their kids manners!

@garymarsh6 It is the parents fault that the children misbehave like that because the parents are not teaching them properly or not teaching them at all.

@Marcyaz Yes don't remonstrate with the child but rather with the parents! They were probably too busy on facebook on their phones to have noticed!

@JamesHxstatic I think a lot of people will appreciate an adults only restaurant since there are people who don't seem to know how to control their children in a restaurant.

People should learn to not let their children run wild, as that spoils things for other people. Unfortunately, there are too many parents who have no control over their kids or who think that it's OK/normal and everyone else should just put up with it. It's a shame because it means that those of us with well-raised children miss out on a nice experience, either because someone else's brat is spoiling things or because a place has too many such experiences and decides to become adult only. I do think it's funny when people say they'll never go somewhere again when it's entirely their own problem and they wouldn't be welcome again anyway. I also think that it wouldn't hurt for some places to be child-free. As I said, it wouldn't be so bad if people controlled their kids so you didn't even notice they were there, but many don't. I have seen some places with signs such as 'well-behaved children welcome, other children will be given coffee'

Nobody is enjoying themselves when children are running wild and not being disciplined. My children behave very well in public and we're often complimented by others on the behavior of our children in public places such as that. It drives me crazy that some parents don't keep control of their children.

I'd take a guess that the first family eat at a dining table at home, while the second let their kids eat in front of the TV with no adults around. Some youngster don't know how to behave because they've never had good role models.

I hate going anywhere where there are unbehaved children. It is the parent(s) duties to make sure children behave. You're right, some parents just let them run rampant. My parents would take all 5 of us girls to dine out and we knew how to behave, in public, at least! We fought often at home, but knew how to behave when we ventured out of the house! And my 3 children always behaved in restaurants and grocery and department stores.
