Detoxing from a Centipede bite - Yikes!

I'm currently in day 5 of recovery from a nasty centipede bite. It was about 8 inches long, it's size & age making it's venom more toxic than normal. It also didn't help that the location of the bite was on my torso, near my heart. After getting over the mental shock of having horror movie like centipede invade my bed at around 11pm when I was sleeping so soundly - I'm now revealing in the comments folks were making to me right after the bite & ER visit. I'm so strong - my spirit is so healthy - uhmmm yea - so I drove myself to ER that night - is it really that big of a deal? Yea - I've got toxins eeking through my system making feel like I've got a cross between a hangover & the flu. But, like Pink Floyd, it only comes through in waves. The recovery meds take a while - I'll have follow up shots a month then a year from now. I'm on antibiotics today, but finish in a day or two for those. I'm wondering - is there anyway I can flush the toxins from my system faster?

We have them here and I hate them. In our organic garden when we were cleaning the land we had to be so careful to not come across one of them. I don't have so many in my yard and I do spray for them now and then especially after a big rain. I did wake up the other day to one curled up on my kitchen floor. Lucky a big cooking pot was handy I could smash him with it. I have to say I have never been bitten by one and I hope I never am. I try to be so careful around the organic garden and my own garden.

Absolutely @poehere !! I think one of the neighbors disturbed a nest as this was a really big one looking for a new home maybe? I've heard moth balls keep them at bay One of my friends brought some over and we scattered them about the house. Hopefully we'll keep them out!

@SunnyShores Never heard of this one before. Basically if one comes in our home it is during a heavy rain storm and our yard is filled with water. But normally they never come in our home.

@poehere That's what worries me. I've another friend who thinks it's a 'curse bug' sent to bite me on purpose. as if I need more 'horror movie flavors' added to this little drama!

I've seen a few of those huge centipedes here in our desert, they're colorful and now that I've read this I'm going to have to check every nook and cranny to make sure I don't get bit, k, I'm TERRIFIED So, do you have any advice on how to keep them out of my home, a mobile home?

Thanks for the tip @SunnyShores boy I'd hate to get bit by one of those. I do like having them where the baby mice are though, they eat them. Maybe they'll stay under the mobile home, that where all their food is anyway. But I gotta say your topic did freak me out.

My friend who's a native from around here - brought over moth balls. we put them in old plastic soda/water bottles so the pets won't eat them. We poked holes to the fumes could get out - then we hid them around the house. Haven't seen any since - keeping my fingers crossed!

By doing an regular body flush BUT, you don't want to do that because you will also be flushing the good stuff out. I would be sure I am drinking plenty of water. That doesn't mean other liquids but water. There are several type of body flushes but I really do not recommend that you do this.

@SunnyShores ...So just let the meds they are giving you do their job.

Yes, lots of water and exercise - it's the only way I've heard so far - that doesn't involve drinking a strange concoction of moonshine, herbs, token centipede & God only knows what else that's mixed up in those backwoods cabins....

Ok, that was so rude of me, I hope you'll recover very quickly so you can go through your home to make sure you don't have anymore surprises.

I'm so glad I have a couple furbabies in here with me, I think they would alert me if there were one of those @SunnyShores Oh, I commented on my own fear before wishing you well, to me that's rude. Umm, if you check out the blue "mylot code" beneath your comments you'll find some emojis, it took me a while to find them.

Thanks @rebelann - not sure what was rude - :/ - but yes, my friend & I did a thorough search & sweep the next day. It was so strange! Still have trouble not thinking about it as I go to sleep - shudder
