On One Small Act of Kindness A day!

I’m going to try to brighten up my days a bit! Starting today! I’m going to do one small act of kindness a day. It could be anything, ranging from lose change for the charity bucket to lending out my research notes. One small act of kindness a day. If you’re to do a small act of kindness today, what would that be?

Good luck - just remember that you should do good for the sake of others and not for a self-imposed target.

Bahh.. I'm a selfish git, I feel happier with myself when I've been kind to others. Something positive I can look forward to each 'n' every day. In my books, good of others equates to happiness for myself.

@boiboing HAHAH I don't want to mess with little ole ladies.. they'd think I was trying to mug them! I'm more on par with helping a single mum with her pram down some stairs.. that kinda thing!

@Drosophila Go for it! But if you see little old ladies running away from you when you try to shepherd them across the road, take the hint.

It goes a long way just one small act of kind. I don't know what mine will be today, still plenty of time in the day.

I already did it. Despite the fact that no one deserves it, I fed them lunch here. If I had a million dollars, like the song says... well, then we'd do other things. Oh, and I gave all my myLot money to The Girl who is between jobs at the moment and needs... I dunno... something.

I do not agree to this. There are boundaries to kindness. You see, it encourages more people to be lazy and effectively, increases the workload directly or indirectly of those who are not. Help only the needy. That is how Christ would expect, and so would Krishna, because otherwise, it is indirectly hurting the person who is already struggling in the world.

An acquaintance said this the other day, "if you haven't done something kind for others today, then you could've done something kind for yourself". Awesome angle.. more often than not I forget I should count as a person too. xD

I do it every morning. I go out into the street and switch of all the street lights. Most people leave them on the whole day. I keep our street clean.. pick up the garbage and put them where they need to be, when people throw them out carelessly. I hate doing this .. but I do it.

@Drosophila I wonder why other won't do what they have to do .. in the first place .. Leave the garbage where it has to be left .. or clean up their surroundings.

@sofssu It's an awareness thing I believe. Some folks just lack the awareness on the consequence of their actions.

I do that annually. I don't like to go regularly to charitable institutions. It makes me happy to see that I am doing something good for them, and sad that I am not doing enough.

That's a really great idea. I think we should all try and keep a positive attitude, and do something nice for ourselves and/or others.

@Drosophila no matter how small or big the act of kindness, it can have a huge impact in our lives.

Indeedy! The acts of kindness can be so small but the effective can be massive. I always remember the people who's kind to me, so it's time for me to be kind to someone when possible.

Try to transform the world into a better place by getting the evil ones taste a bit of their own medicine.

Sounds like too much hassle.. there's an old Japanese saying, "if you sit by the river long enough, you'll see the bodies of your enemy drift by."

Definitely, or just being nice, and saying something nice to someone helps too. Especially if they're feeling down.

It is nice to be nice. And the upside is that it makes both recipient and donor feel good

I do hope it counteracts my "not-so niceness"..
