I can't even give it away....

That is a line from a George Strait tune but in my case it refers to the set of pots I wanted to give away. I got a response as soon as I posted the free pots. The girl wanted me to bring them to her..no way! Then she wanted me to meet her half-way....What part of NO don't you understand (a line from another country song). Then she said she would come get them by 5:00 pm. At 5:30 I asked if she was on her way and she responded - soon. This was all done via PM on Facebook. At 6:45 I sent her a message and told her I decided to give them to Goodwill. Ten minutes later she responded that her son was sick, could she come tomorrow - NO. I repeated that I decided to donate to Goodwill. You offer something for free, and it's good stuff, not junk. Someone wants it because she really needs them. Then wants free delivery. Then finally agrees to pick them up and then doesn't bother....give me a break! I have never had a problem with selling items, giving them away or anyone picking them up before. I guess not everyone is appreciative....even if they want it all for nothing.

It's amazing what some people expect. I like the story of someone who put a small cupboard on the sidewalk with a 'free' sign. When it didn't go, she changed the sign to $5. It was stolen within minutes!

That's too funny! I told my husband I could list those pots/pans for sale for about $20 and they would sell.

It's always the same, people seem not to appreciate free items. I would have done exactly like you, she has bad manners, she does not deserve your free pots.

Thank you- manners is the word! I'd rather give them to someone who appreciates it.

I have been down that road many times myself. I don't understand why someone would expect you to deliver unless she had no ride, and if so all she had to do was mention that in the first place. Why not just communicate people?..say it upfront..then Abby would have made arrangements to deal with it tomorrow..after i dropped off the brownies..

I think she was fishing for you to give up and bring it to her for free.

the think is, if she had let you know upfront, the second she realized there was an issue, you might could have waited a day, this seems fishy

Yes, if she said that right away - but I don't believe the kid is/was sick.

Really. You'd think she would have told you her son was sick before and make another time to come and pick them up. Putting you off and such was rather irresponsible of her. You were really doing her a favor. Freebies aren't always easy to come by.

After she wanted the stuff for sure I removed it from FB - if it ha stayed up I would have had a line of people wanting...so now I'm donating to charity.

People can really be something else. Sorry you had that experience.

We have never had that problem so it was a shock. Most who get free stuff bend over backwards to get it and are very grateful.

She could have told you right away that her son was sick instead of asking for delivery. That might have changed the situation.

@Sheilamarie78 And where she wanted me to deliver is at least 30 miles round trip.

We have given away and sold many items this way over the last year - we don't deliver. If I'm selling cheap or giving you something you best be coming to pick it up.

@AbbyGreenhill If you had to deliver, it would be costing You something to give it away. That's ridiculous.

Some people are really not grateful :( People like that don't deserve such kind gestures.

At times I find this here. We might be cleaning out something or bringing something back from our garden and then all of a sudden everyone wants it for free. but when you tell them to go and cut the food nobody comes Once it is at home now everyone comes running. We just stopped giving them away and refuse to bring too much home now. We just cut what we need for ourselves. Some people want it all and don't want to do anything to get what they want even if they don'[t pay for it.

They want the 'easy' way and cutting it for themselves is too much work -lazy is what they are.

@poehere If I ever post anything for free next time it will say "you have 30 mins to get here or it goes to someone else?

@AbbyGreenhill Yah sure everyone would love to take something for free and then have it had delivered to them. How rude at least they should do is move and go get it. People offer for free and they should be so thankful to get this and be running out the door worrying if someone beat them to it.
