Gel Injection in Knee Joint! Hope This Helps! Ouch!

I fell in June face first on concrete sidewalk, yes I am clumsy, I broke my nose and torn the meniscus in my knee. I had surgery to repair knee, but it is still hurting. I have a place in joint were bone is rubbing bone no cushion there. That is what this injection does, it is a gel like substance they put in your knee joint. Over 3 weeks I will have a shot each week! I had my first one yesterday! Very sore day, suppose to take it easy for 3 days, but that is probably just going to happen today! Has anyone else had these injections? What was your results? Have an awesome Friday!

I think that helps but to a limited extent. You also have to help yourself by drinking enough water and doing the right exercise and also avoid some food.

Seems quite logical as that is what is needed from bones touching each other.

@Margielynn So many are suffering because this gel between the joints dries out. Hope it becomes available for everyone, throughout the world.

@allknowing I hope it will, it is the cartilage that just wears out and you no longer have a cushion between the bone, it is bone rubbing bone that is what it hurts! That is my understanding!

I'm sorry you fell and had to have surgery. I fell almost 8 weeks ago now and am still recovering from a broken leg. I'm clumsy too. I haven't had any gel injections, but I have had a needle under my kneecap looking to draw liquid but there wasn't any. Worst pain I've ever been through. I hope what you're going through isn't as bad. I also hope your knee heals quickly.

I have bad knee joints and will be curious to follow your knee injections to see if they work for you. So far I haven't gotten any but if they work I might be inclined to

I've had two types of injections and they will probably be my last. I don't think either one was a gel. i think both were like cortisone, actually one was cortisone and the other something similar, but it works a bit differently. I didn't notice a difference with the second one, it never seemed to relieve my pain. Now my thumb joints hurt enough so that I don't notice my knees quite so much. I do take a pain pill and a RX ibuprofen for when I'm working, and I'm trying to remember to take o/c turmeric and cinnamon which seems to help quite a bit when I remember to take them.
