Target What Are You Thinking??

Target here in the United States is going to be serving liquor while you shop, which is think is the worst idea. I feel like a lot of people in this country have a drinking problem as it is. Target promoting drinking while you shop wont turn you into an alcoholic but it just promotes bad behavior. Unfortunately in this country we cant just drink to enjoy it and socialized with friends we have to over do it. Did they not think about these moms that will be with their children drinking wine while they are shopping and then jumping into their cars right after and driving home (because you know that will happen). I hate to be a pessimist but something is going to happen.

That is the most stupid marketing ploy I have ever heard. They're just asking for all kinds of trouble including law suits when people get in car accidents after drinking in the store.

People get in car accidents after drinking at bars. Target still has to follow all state ABC laws.

whew..overwhelming responses to this post, I didn't expect this at all. I have not been on here all weekend and there is a lot to catch up on. I understand that Target still has to follow the laws when they serve liquor but it doesn't mean the people are going to act less stupid. They are only facilitating bad behavior and this "great" idea is going to smack them in the face. Someone is going to get hurt! Also think of black Friday and serving liquor what do you think that is going to look like? We already have problems on black Friday of people trampling each other for a stupid video game and fist fights over in the movie section. All this I have witness during our wonderful black Friday shopping day, add liquor to the mix and it will get dangerous.

Oh how wonderful. Shoppers can now buy that dress they always wanted and fight off angry drunks at the same time. Sounds like a blast. Really.

It's definitely a dumb idea, but people drink and then get into cars afterwards all the time, even with their children. Being at Target wont be any different then going out to eat really. I'm not condoning it, but I'm just saying there are other scenarios just like it.

It is not a good idea to sell liquor while you are shopping. I cant imagine people getting boozed at fighting and the checkout counter.

This will make them legally responsible if someone gets into a car and drives drunk. Not smart.

So the Chicago Target has decided to put a bar in their store? Interesting. Of course, it will have to follow all IL ABC laws regardless. I would hope most shoppers with kids would act responsibly. You're always going to have those people who bring their kids with them when they drink -- bars, restaurants, friends' houses, and yes, maybe now Target. You never are going to stop stupidity and irresponsibility whether there's a bar in the store or not.

Good point--it's not like anybody walks to Target. Bad idea on their part!
