Some Times Things Happen For A Reason

I had planned to travel to Paris this week with two of my friends. In August, one of the friends let me know that he couldn't make the trip. I was in the midst of getting ready for my Ireland trip in September so I told my other friend that I didn't think going in November was a good idea. We decided maybe a spring visit would be better. I know she was very disappointed but as the news today unfolded I have to say that I am very grateful that we had to change our plans. Some times things happen for a reason.

Oh my goodness Isabelle, what a lucky escape. All that carnage over there is absolutely terrible.

@BelleStarr Always go with what you are feeling. If you feel something is not right it is not.

I'm glad that you didn't go either. It was so sad to see those images on the news, those poor people.

@BelleStarr Right now they are saying that the flights, both in and out of the country, are open, which is odd because the borders are closed.

Well that is a good question. For myself I would say no but if my friend still wants to go then I will go.

You might have been in the middle of what happened over there today.

It would certainly have been a terrifying place to be today.

It's always kind of bone chilling when things like that happen and you look back on what could have happened if you had gone. Kind of like people who miss their flight only to find out later that the plane crashed. I'm so glad that you decided to change your plans.

@BelleStarr I bet it does. I would feel the same way and it would probably be a while before I could get all of it out of my head.

It all worked out for the best. We don't always see why things don't work and we don't always find out later either. I believe God worked it out so you didn't go, and that he'd do that for anyone. The difficulty is that we don't force ourselves to do things we don't feel right about.

I agree we have to listen to God when he tries to help us. I am very glad he was there for me.

@MarshaMusselman I am quite used to listening to him, he has pulled me from the fire many times and I am very grateful he is watching.

@BelleStarr So am I and I'm glad you heard his voice and that you and the other friend didn't decide to make it work anyway. I think that a lot of times God is about bending over backwards, figuratively, to keep us out of the soup.

I like traveling. But sometimes the negative news occur everywhere everyday. Sometimes I even doubt is it better to stay at home so that we can feel safer? But the truth is, nowhere is safe in the world

Hopefully by the Spring things will have settled down and it will be a much happier visit for you than the planned one.

I am beginning to wonder if maybe we just need to choose a different destination.

So good to know that you were not in Paris at the wrong time. It's a shame that so many people were killed by cowards.

I was going to be meeting with another friend who lives in France and who knows where we would have chosen to dine, all very scary.

Thank goodness that friend of yours said he could not make the trip, and you all cancelled it! I am glad my friend and her husband that live in Paris, were safely at home in their apartment, when what happened did, though I am still worried that they are there at this time at all, but, it is their home. I just hope that all will be safe now.

OMG! I am so glad that you were not in Paris tonight. I was thinking earlier of all the people who have loved ones over there right now.
