Do you remember the Drive In movies. I was reminded of them when I was on a little trip yesterday to get my oil changed and was driving down a country road about ten miles from the nearest city and lo and behold there was a drive in movie. The sign said "closed for the winter cause of freezin." Did you ever go to the drive in movie with your parents or as a teen? My car needed an oil change and since there is nothing open in this town on Sunday I had to go to another town, since it was so close to lunch time I stopped at Embers and had lunch then as I was only twenty miles from Spirit Lake Iowa I went to the Walmart there for the oil change. They were short handed so I had to wait about an hour. I looked around the store but bought nothing.

This is something I have always seen in the US movies, we never had drive-in in my country.

I am glad you have seen this but wonder why you never had it in your country.

@Marcyaz I believe it's only because our country is small and we do not have large spaces to contain many cars together.

Pack the kids in and go to the movies. Yep and I asked my son if he remembered when we went to the drive in and he said yes and it was lots of fun. We took our own soda and chips and pop corn and ate them right in the car with no hassle.

@jstory07 Hey if they didn't charge so much you wouldn't have to sneak it in anyways I did the same thing.

We used to have a drive-in around here but I never went to it. It closed down many years ago, but our telephone number at home was very nearly the same as the drive-in's so people were always misdialing and calling us to ask what movies were playing.

That must have been irritating to receive those phone calls.

Yup I go all the time during the summer when they are open. We have a great time as they have mini golf, an arcade and then food etc before the movie starts. Such great times and memories!

Great to hear that some are still open and have other things along with the movies as so many have closed down completely..

I used to take mine in the truck and the kids would hop in the back with their blankets and pillows and soda and food and watch the movie then they would fall asleep. We always had a good time.
