What a Privilege ....

Yesterday  a lovely lady shrugged off her mortal ties .... and left this world ... and I had the privilege of being there .... You might think it strange that I should call it a privilege, but it was. She was a lovely lady, a gentle soul,  an enabler and encourager, a strong independent woman, who grew with the times .... she was 96,  she only gave up driving four months ago ... and daily used a tablet, to email and skype various members of her family and friends. They were all with her at the time, she was not in any pain, or on any  medication, she was talking to the family in between her laboured breaths and squeezing their hands .... She was content and ready to go, after a short illness and trying to battle pneumonia ... I was privileged to be there, to help and support in the good times, and at the end ...., along with her family ..., she had a peaceful and dignified exit from this world ... and will be sorely missed by many.

I know, I have worked with seniors and been there as they left our world. Being a part of it all really makes you understand the difference between someone dying and someone passing doesn't it? I hope that she rests in peace and that her life has affected you in a very positive way.

That is a wonderful look at a life you had a privilege to know and be part of her life. I'm sorry you will not have that privilege any longer.

It is always a privilege to be with someone who is about to leave this earth. Sounds as if your lady was ready to go peacefully.

Sounds like she had a good run, right up to the end - I hope I am still able to drive if I make it into my nineties.

Sorry for your loss.. I know what you mean I have been with a close friend when she passed on.. she was so much at peace even though she was leaving behind young children and a distraught husband.

It was a very special time...., but the nature of my job ..., means it is something that I come across from time to time... but not all of them are such a special time....

You brought those tears back into my eyes. I am sorry for your loss but I can understand she was ready to go, what a way to go, so peacefully and with her loved ones around. Bless you for being there.

Yes it will, as they were all involved and in contact with each other, several times a week....
