Some activities just don't go together on the same day

But, there I was Sunday morning breaking up the ice in the bird feeder, thawing out the hummingbird feeder I forgot to bring in overnight, then pulling the last of the still-blooming but frozen black-eyed Susans and, finally, mowing the lawn. With warmer weather and rain predicted, the grass still grew to the point where it had to be mowed (for the last time in a while,I hope.

It is hard to mow the yard after it snows and the grass grows real tall.

I know. I am hoping for snow in the mountains (only) this year.

Never thought of that. So grass stops growing in cold weather? It never stops growing in SoCal, remember?

When we were in Hawaii my husband notices all the growth and all the workers trimming and trimming and realized he would not like doing that year round.

That's crazy James but I know what you mean. So far we have escaped any true semblance of winter. I think we may see a bit of cold later this week. I figure you Oregonians will dump some of what you have on us in due time. LOL.

It has been raining hard and steadily for several hours now. I hope there is snow in the mountains. We will send some your way.

Well, what a day! You can feel good about getting the mowing done. I have never heard of any mowing being done in November either. More like maintenance on the mower for the next year.

I can say we have never needed to mow the lawn in November, even if there was no snow.

I mowed twice last December due to unseasonably warm weather.

@JamesHxstatic We've had to mow ours twice in November but that's not to outrageous for these parts.

Do you often have white christmases?

Rarely. If we get snow, it tends to happen in Jan. or Feb. I do not long of it really.

The grass has grown a lot, but I cannot mow it now, it's too cold, I have to wait until the next Spring.

With the rain we are getting, if the temps warm, the grass will shoot up.

We are slowly turning into that winter brown color, no more leaves, frozen flowers but green grass still but we don't need to mow, I don't want it to rush into being white. Not looking forward to winter.

That does sound like a crazy day ... ice in the bird feeder, then mowing the lawn!

Yes, it seemed incongruous to me as the day passed.
