It's been a few days since I was really active here. It seems impossible that I have been non-participatory for so long. Main reason - bad back. But some of it was just a desire to not talk about my bad back and yet I did that anyway. I am ashamed of myself. Tuesday, I went with The Man to his doctor's appointment. That is always fun. His doctor is very nice, a bit of a hippie and deals well with The Man's refusal to follow medical advice. He's always a little behind schedule, but that just gave us time to investigate the mirror in the exam room. It had that suspicious "two-way mirror" look to it. There is a little test for that involving placing your finger on the mirror and seeing if there is a gap between your finger and its reflection. I actually just moved the mirror to find it was, in fact, just hanging on the wall and not a secret spy window. In case you think we are just paranoid, we pointed it out to the doctor, and he had a look at it, too. We determined that it was just decorative, after all. After determining that The Man was healthier than last year despite failure to follow medical advice, we went home and I baked myself a birthday cake. Two days later and there is still half a cake left over. This is very unusual, but no one in the household is feeling very well for various reasons. But not eating cake may be healthier, who knows? Wednesday disappeared into a fog. That's the only explanation I can think of. I watched some really bad Christmas movies, because I didn't have the energy to change the channel. Today is Thursday, apparently. Somehow, I have to get The Boy to a dentist appointment this morning. And I have some interesting thoughts to write about, but I wanted to get all this out of my head first. And I will need to do myLot before I start knitting another pair of socks. That gets me very wound up. How was your week so far? I suppose I will find out when I read your discussions.

It has been a long week and I actually thought it was Saturday yesterday.

I wonder why some weeks get so messed up in our heads like that?

@AbbyGreenhill I am sorry to hear of these sad events. I hope your husband will feel better. It's hard to enjoy the holidays when there are family tragedies.

It is nice to see you back. Although, you did not want to share about the reason(s) of your absence from mylot, however, you made a mention in a flow. Now we know that you are getting treatment for your back. For me, the week has been usual so far, nothing eventful happened.

First, Happy belated birthday! I am so sorry that you have been out of sorts but hope you will feel better soon. My week hasn't been anything to write home about. The biggest excitement I've had is Daisy (one of my dachshunds) being able to jump up in my recliner. She is 5 months old and now that she has discovered she can jump, she wants to do it all the time. I know, not very exciting

I am not sure if I should be excited that the dog can jump on the furniture, but then, I wasn't that excited when the kids started walking. I knew what I was in for.

@Rollo1 I was excited and surprised when it first happened. Now it's not fun at all. I would swear she was a Jack Russel instead of a small dachshund.

Please explain knitting socks. Homemade socks have big air gaps and are pretty bad at keeping feet warm, or am I wrong?

Oh no, depends on the yarn, the size of the needles or the loom. I make socks all the day long to keep my tootsies warm.

@Rollo1 Okay, so the smaller the needles, the smaller the gaps?

I hope your back is feeling better. Funny about the mirror. I'm glad your Man is in good health. How did the dentist visit go? My week? I was here. There were some things I was supposed to do, but I was a rebel and didn't do them, which means I will need to next week.

Plain cake, buttercream icing. An old-fashioned homemade cake.

It's improving, thanks. I don't really celebrate bdays, just wanted cake and that was the only day I had an excuse to make one.

So sorry to hear about your back. Hope you're healing. A late birthday wish for you also. Some birthdays are better than others so hopefully your next one will be wonderful. I enjoyed the holiday with the family and had some minor surgery Monday so recovering from that. Have to work this weekend at my part-time job handing out samples in Walmart.

Birthdays don't seem to matter that much these days. The 0's are always a shock, then 1-9 you spend getting used to the initial number and just as you do, it's an 0 year again. I got a few more to the next 0 year, so this birthday didn't provide much of a worry.

Pretty normal, except for yesterday's terror attack. You'll see that I got another pair of coasters done. That always makes me happy. And I've got my little Christmas trees started. Biggest event for me personally: I had to improvise yesterday. Had a client cancellation. Called another kid client and saw him instead. Tring to keep my "billable hours" up. I hope your back feels better. Mine hurts now from sitting here and typing. It's time to move.

I still haven't been around to all the posts, though I made a stab at it this morning. A busy day. I hope Friday will be good and boring so I can get here more.

I usually complain a lot, just not about things like pain. But it really laid me low this week. Getting better now, so hope I can get back in the swing of the Lot.

I can really relate to the fact that you watched bad Christmas movies because you couldn't be bothered changing the channels. My kind of person!

Holiday movies are all pretty bad except for a few. But you soon run through the good ones, so the bad ones are what is left. May as well watch them if it saves the trouble of looking for something else to watch.

It happens that I watch a bad movie only because I am too lazy to change the channel or go to get a DVD. This is a pretty hard week, but next week should be better.
