Random Word Post – apetalous

I find a random word by flipping through a dictionary or using a random word generator and write a quick – often silly – little post about it. # When I first saw this word, I read it as ape-talous, which made me wonder what a talous was and how it fit in with apes. But the real definition is “Without petals,” so I guess it’s read as a-petalous. I guess that’s cool as a crossword puzzle word, or Words With Friends (do people still play that?) but I doubt it has any real day-to-day use.

Probably referenced in botanical texts, I should imagine - but not in common parlance, no.
