A Lesson Learned

Years ago I taught a boys Sunday School class. Our 7 year old was in that group. One Sunday, I taught a lesson on “Forgiveness”. He obviously was paying attention. The following Monday, coming home from work, I swung my motorcycle into the driveway before he realized I was there. He was standing on top of a truckload of topsoil I had ordered to fill in some ruts. After receiving strict instructions to not climb on it a couple of days earlier, there he stood. “Didn’t I tell you not to climb on that pile?” I asked him. “Y-y-yes-sir!” he whimpered. “What do you think I oughta do about it?” I demanded. With his voice still quavering he answered, “F-f-forgive me!” I had to crank my bike and ride into the back yard so he couldn’t see me laughing.
