I've noticed that myLotters are busy talking about getting their Christmas trees up and decorated.
Mine has been up for a week already. It's 6 feet tall and stands in the corner of my living room. It has all white lights and an assortment of ornaments (some that I've had for years and some that my children & grandchildren have made).
Every year I say I'm going to get a smaller tree but then I'm happy once mine is up and decorated.
I love Christmas and all the festivities that come with the holiday season.
So, I'm just being nosy...what size is your tree?

Isn't it amazing how they squash trees into those boxes and then when assembled they are quite large

That's the funniest thing I've heard or read all day/morning @Rollo1! I don't even know why, but it really is. I'm not sure if it's the slight sarcasm, or the way it subtly rolled-out onto the page so casually - "Right now, it's about box-sized."
I guess I'm easily amused... Thx!

@Marilynda1225 Our living room and dining room are together which makes it look more open. I think our ceilings are 9 foot but not sure.

Wow you must have lots of space for a big tree like that

Hope the tree still works when you put it up and isn't too small. I know when I was looking for my house I kept in mind where would I put my tree. Both my daughter and real estate agent both laughed at me but it was important that my house had a good spot for my Christmas tree

@Marilynda1225 It's a lot easier, isn't it?

@jabouk my tree is artificial. I haven't had a real tree since I was a kid and my father would be in charge of caring for it. Once I got married I switched to artificial.

@Marilynda1225 oh yes we have a wonderful time hunting, and finding the tree. Plus the farm down the road charges the same price no matter what size tree you get, so it is only $35

@mom210 that sounds like a huge tree but I can imagine it's fun cutting it down, bringing it home and then decorating it

Mine is a 32" fiber optic table top tree. I have no place for anything bigger. I can't rearrange anything to make a place for a larger tree, so I've had to go small. I just pulled it out of the box and set it up. It's colorful and changes color from multi to all one color - green, red, and blue. I can't put any ornaments on it, the bad part, but it works for now.

@just4him your fiber optic tree sounds really pretty especially that it changes colors. I would probably find that very relaxing

@Marilynda1225 It is. It looks beautiful when the light is off and the only light is the tree.

We don't really celebrate Christmas, but I used felt to sew a small Christmas tree for my children two years ago. It's about two feet tall, and we can hang some ornaments on it. Sometimes, my children treat it as a pillow as it's stuffed with cotton.
I have read posts about Christmas tree, lights and ornaments being used for years, I think this is really sweet tradition for the family.

Your felt tree sounds perfect especially if your children can use it as a stuffed pillow

Our tree went up in this past week also. Its a smaller tree only 5 1/2 feet tall I believe. But it is very full and we really like it. We used to have 2 huge trees, a 7 and an 8 foot tree. It was SO much work decorating them both, but when you're younger you have the time and energy and we had 1 tree for "show" and the other was for us to put our gifts under.

@juliaacv I hear you when you say being young and having energy. My Christmas decorating has been scaled down considerably as I've gotten older. I still put things around but not as much as I used to

@Marilynda1225 I only use a small fraction of what we own, but it stores well and one day I'll pass it down to our son when he has big enough home for it all.

@Marilynda1225 Yes, Ma'am! And those need just a little creativity. Maybe a different color of ribbon here & there does the trick!

@Marilynda1225 We'll probably put it up today so I'll do a post on it. I actually have photos from last year but it is best if I put two photos - a before and after so I'll do a post.

This year it is going to be a small one. We are having work done on the house and the room where I put my tree it stuff full of other things. Good thing my son is sixteen and doesn't mind.

Our tree is 7ft. We used to use a 6ft tree, but that was replaced 2 years ago.

Am I the only one around here that still puts up a REAL Christmas tree? Or does admitting so make me a tree killer? If so, then I'm going to have to point my finger - many vegetarians eat fish you know, so go pick on them first!
As far as height, I usually get one that's just slightly taller than my ceiling so that the angel is easier to put on, and naturally, for aesthetic purposes.
