Today I felt ashamed of myself. Why.? people may wonder. ..Aren't you.? This is not because of any heinous act of mine..but, .because of the passive attitude of the people .towards mindless activities and promises made by great leaders to its people and I being one among those innocents and having become a sinner. Here we the people will be getting the promise to the effect of total prohibition. A promise will be made to the people by the leaders of the political parties at the time of elections that their party is committed to total prohibition and would save the life of poor people as alcohol is mainly responsible for their ill health and that their party if forms the Government \ would take every step for providing good health to its people. The day elections are over and the party forms Government it would keep it promise aside and would at frequent intervals issues orders for prohibition. After a gap of 5 or 8 months suddenly some opposition members point out an incident where some people would lose their lives due to consumption of spurious liquor. The very next day the Government issues a statement stating that 'it is totally the work of some anti-social elements and the Government would identify those anti-social elements and would strive to supply pure and unadulterated liquor to it's people'. Again a great surprise and very annoying statement hit the headline in the News that the Government is planning to launch a welfare scheme to protect the people from the consumption of spurious liquor.and that it is coming with scheme which they term the brainchild of the party in power Now a the Government ...introduces a free health scheme to the people where they cover all most all diseases The scheme will be given some 'Meaningless name'. Thus, two shops will be opened 1. liquor shops 2. a hospital shop to implement the health scheme Interestingly they take pride in saying that it is only their party in the Government which is committed to supplying pure and unadulterated liquor to the people and that the opposition has not done anything for the people.. Sarcastically they also open another medical shop we call it hospital to hospitalize the patients with a promise of treating the patients free of cost with state funds.. The Governments would never feel the shame of their promises and statement. . By any stretch of imagination, these are not governments meant for the people's welfare but making every effort to amass as much revenue as possible from the poor by levying the tax and run the administration with the revenue got from the liquor sold and indirectly squeezing the blood of the people. But still our people are 'QUITE PASSIVE ' to the entire episode and they are quite tolerated to such promises. Is any of your countries do have such anti-liquor, supply of pure liquor and health care systems.? It is only here these things do happen in the name of development and healthcare.... What should we call these leaders.? ..Nearly 21 people .....who are innocent labor and earning their livelihood by doing extreme manual work under hazardous conditions have lost their lives today..and some more are admitted in hospital and their position is very critical....I am totally disheartened by this incident...

The Americans learned the hard way in the 1920's that liquor prohibition does not work - it actually makes the problem worse.

Yes..they realized it long back.with the development of tech we are very far behind the facts. Are we not developed to analyze the facts or we do not want to analyze deliberately. We are living sucking the blood of the poor indirectly...I am ashamed of myself...Are not we....?

They may be right. But, what mar guiche has stated in her comment may perhaps bring a solution. By educating the people and making them feel responsible citizen, this can be stopped. The Governments are supposed to take care of the welfare of its people. Though the Governments know pretty well the adverse effects of LIQUOR CONSUMPTION they are deliberately not taking the appropriate measures. This is just because they want money. They need excise tax. What they say is this amount will be spent and meant finally for the people only...It implies that we are being fed by the money got from the sale of liquor..Are we not squeezing the blood of the poor and innocents?
