The Accidental Godmother

I was having second thoughts in attending the wedding of my boss’ brother who is a co-affiliate while the bride is a former office mate . But yesterday , through the prodding of my office mates who made me feel guilty of saying yes to the mother of my boss to attend it , I decided to just go . I was in our Thursday uniform though, but since it’s a whole dress and I am in my high heeled shoes , I thought it is also apt for the occasion . I just put on my peach shawl. My officemates and I were at the back pews . When the time for the principal sponsors (godparents ) to sign in the marriage contract , one of the godmothers was absent . Thus , the groom had me called in front and let me sign on their marriage contracts instead . Gosh , I was shocked because I was just there to attend the wedding not in the least expecting that I will be an “accidental godmother “ , much to the laughter of my office mates .

But anyway , I love to be their godmother , even in an accidental way .

Now , they call me "ninang" (the Tagalog word for godmother ).

its good that you sign it and they see you a responsible person and they have trust ton you.here in India only relative to do sign.

The relatives are not allowed . It must be matured persons who are there in the church and witnessed the whole ceremony .

@sofssu Indeed . We were actually outside the church and looking at the entourage and teasing each one as they pass by us as they go inside the church . They were after all , mostly our co-affiliates , with the bride a former office mate of ours and the groom a co-affiliate of ours too .

The other girls are co-affiliates of us and at one time my office mates .

Actually that was outside the church with the entourage going inside the church one by one and we were kidding the secondary sponsors and the groom and some principal sponsors since they were all from our affiliates .

Yes . I will be asking them what were the gifts they received . So, i can choose which one to buy for them .

I had to put on a peach shawl so that it won't be obvious that i am in our office uniform , while the rest of my office mates were wearing civilian dresses .

Yes, that's actually our uniforms . I juts put on the shawl to make it not so obviosu. The rest of my officemates and co-affiliates were ready . They went to the office in civilian dress already whch they have previously asked for permission of.
