Yesterday was the day for the 23 annual Nevada County Food and Toy run. We have had a lot of rain here for the past couple of weeks, it rained Friday, and it is raining today (Sunday.) However, yesterday we got a break in the weather. It was a bit on the cold side for motorcycle riding, but it didn't rain on us.
This fantastic local event is a good chance for us to reconnect with old friends, many of whom we only see this one time each year. On the second Saturday of December 1500 to 2000 motorcyclists rumble through the small gold rush town of Nevada City, CA bearing Christmas gifts for the needy. Law enforcement does a wonderful job of crowd control, and it's a joy to see the parents and kids along the route to cheer us on. It feels great knowing that all of the food and toys collected go to local families.

That sounds like a really fun time, and it's helping out a needy cause at the same time! I haven't seen any of our local biker clubs do a toy run, but it seems like every weekend there is a poker run for some charity or another. It's nice to see some of these big, bad, burly bikers show they have a softer side by giving back to the community! I think bikers unjustly get a bad reputation, when most of them are loving, caring people!

That is so healthy and sets a stage for others to do the same and all those families will have a merry Christmas that's really outstanding.

Every kid should get a visit from Santa. I remember when my kids were little, sometimes they didn't get much for Christmas, but they always got something. You can't go back to school when everyone is talking about what they got for Christmas, and you didn't get anything!
