Poor Steve Harvey...and Miss Universe

United States
December 21, 2015 6:49am CST
Steve Harvey made a boo-boo - a giant boo-boo last night. You probably heard about it on the news. He handed over the Miss Universe crown to the wrong winner. I guess all that beauty on one stage blinded him for a moment or two. Live TV - it happens but this was a first and will go down in history. But Mr Harvey did the right thing and acknowledged his error and now the real Miss Universe, Miss Philippians, is wearing the crown instead of Miss Columbia. I have a feeling Steve Harvey won't be invited to host the show again - ever!

I've never paid this much attention to a beauty pageant before.

I have seen it. I got confused at first, and probably Steve Harvey was a thousand more confused at that moment. He made a blunder of EPIC proportion. On the other hand, I give it to the guy for handling it the way he did. He apologized right there and then.. and after the show and through the social media. It was the worst time and place to make a huge mistake for sure. This would go down in the history. Come to think about it, I guess hell be laughing about it when he tell this story to his grand children in the future. heheh

What a terrible mistake! I watched this news last night from TV. I am sorry for Ms. Colombia because she had to hand over her crown. Perhaps she felt worse than Steve Harvey because she won it and then lost it in a second.

Like I said in the post I wrote about this, "I would not want to be him". He will be forever embarrassed and every time a people (who know this story) look at him, they will forever associate him with the mistake.

It would be too foolish of the Ms.U organizer if they would ever invite him again and even Mr.Harvey will certainly beg off if he has dignity.

That must be very hard experience for the one who thought she was the winner but turned out to just be the runner up. I suppose accidents happen.

Steve Harvey said that he will be hosting again and he got a multiple year deal because his mistake caused a lot of buzz and publicity.

@AbbyGreenhill He is still getting a lot of abuse from Colombians. Colombians really take Miss Universe seriously just like how Americans take Superbowl seriously. Imagine their President reacted to this incident.

I never watch those shows, but it was in the news this morning. The poor Miss Columbia was upset, but she had a moment of glory and now for weeks she will be in the news.

I think the hub-bub will die down in a few days, someone else will screw up and they'll be in the limelight.

I feel sorry for the man as well. But it is very brave of him to own up to his mistake in front of global television. I just hope that the controversy he had caused will die out soon as I'm seeing a lot of hate between the countries because of the wrong announcement. I respect the man and I hope the world will be kind to him.
