Would you ever want to be roasted?

I am just about to watch a YouTube video I found of Jackie Gleason being roasted. But I was sitting here thinking if I would ever want to be roasted. I am curious as to what people would say about me but at the same time, I can take things to heart quite easily. Would you ever want to be roasted or are you the same as me? What things do you think your family / friends would make fun of you about? Just in case you are interested, here is the link:
THE DEAN MARTIN CELEBRITY ROAST: "Jackie Gleason". When Dean Martin put together the celebrety panel for his roast of Jackie Gleason in 1975 he did it right....

I have not seen one of these programs before, and I most certainly would not like to do the roasting nor would I like to be roasted. I think there is real potential for something to be said that will hurt someone. Once said it is impossible for it to be taken back.

@VivaLaDani13 I think that you hit the nail right on the head when you said they seem to all have a laugh. If you didn't laugh you would be seen as not being a good sport. After all it is all in good fun, but I was watching their faces and I am not so sure that they were all enjoying what was being said all the time.

Exactly right. I wouldn't wasn't to be roasted or roast someone. I do love those shows though. They seem to all have a laugh and it is all in good fun. But the Roasts that are done nowadays...well they aren't the same as they were like back in the day.

@maggs224 I know what you mean. I think sometimes some "jokes" can be taken a bit too far. But I am sure at the end of the day they are all good friends and whether it was spoken about or not, I am sure the good that they bring to the friendship made up for that one night of saying bad jokes.

I loved that show! I don't like being roasted as I have a hard time with excessive heat and so I will try to be as good as I can be. Shhh, I'm meditating!

These Dean Martin roasts used to be popular back in the 70s. I watched quite a few of these on YouTube no long ago and thought if they aired today they would be taken off the air due to some of the things that were said. I know the things that were said were all done in fun, but they wouldn't fly in today's "politically correct" world. But back in the 70s I can remember laughing along with everyone else with what was said. I'm sure I could handle a roasting knowing it was all being done in fun–as long as it was being done in fun and not being vindictive.

@VivaLaDani13 If you look up Dean Martin Roasts on YouTube there are a lot of celebrities he roasted. I liked Jackie Gleason and The Honeymooners, too. Which reminds me of a story I heard about Jackie Gleason. He when into a restaurant that he often frequented. At the end of the meal he asked the waitress what her highest tip was. She told him $50. So Gleason gave her $100. Then he asked who had given her the $50 tip. She said, "Jackie Gleason."

I haven't seen that many but I truly enjoy them especially this one since I am a huge fan of Jackie Gleason and The Honeymooners in general. If it was aired today, a lot of people my age and younger probably wouldn't even understand half of what was going on. I saw a roast of Charlie Sheen and it was....alright. I mainly watched it because Seth Macfarlane and Steve-O was on it but other than that I would easily give it a miss.

I think Dean Martin's roast was funny but it would not have survived in today's society for not being PC. I consider myself to have a good sense of humor and why not? A roast among good friends and family would be entertaining. I think I would be roasted on my quick temper and moody attitudes.

@Montecristodog Totally agree! I have seen a few of the roasts from not too long ago...they were ok but seemed a bit too trashy at times.
