Have you heard a website called Teespring? It's a very interesting website where you have "campaigns" of designs for t-shirts and you'll only make money if you sell a certain amount during these campaigns which can be like 3,5, or 7 days.
I just found this though so I'm still trying to figure it all out.

I don't know exactly how it works either but I see a lot of these shirts on facebook because of the pages I have liked and the interests I have indicated. The shirts can be expensive so I imagine it's only really profitable for organization and teams as well as those who have a knack for catchy well catch phrases that people just "have" to have.

I've bought several items from TeeSpring. On one occasion they sent me a shirt in a colour other than the one I ordered so they let me keep the sweatshirt and credited the money back on my credit card. I love the company, but have to cut back on purchases. I went a little overboard with two sweatshirts and three tee shirts. I also ordered one that never came because the campaign was over and they didn't do another run. That's also why I didn't get the sweatshirt in the right colour after the mistake, they weren't doing another run.
I considered designing a tee shirt for our writing group but got little response from our members. If you don't sell 30 then they won't print them. I don't think anyone outside our group would want one.

Good luck. Never heard of this site, but will check it out. I would love a tee with "Think positive until forced to face reality".
