A very sad day

Yesterday I had a message from my friend's husband to say that she was still in hospital and might not survive. Then in the evening he wrote again to say that she had died. This feels like it should not be the topic for a post. It feels wrong to be writing this. But equally I can't write about anything else because it's all that I can think of. This friend was number two on my frequent dial - after my husband who kind of HAS to be number one. She's the person I spoke to about everything - from the deep heavy life and death stuff to what we'd watched on TV. I will miss her very deeply. I can't write more without getting too upset. But if you notice I'm not my normal self, now you'll know why.

Oh no...oh @Boiboing , I am so sorry to hear that. Why can't this stuff happen to murderers, thieves, robbers, etc!!!!!! Not to someone who is nice. Your friends husband must be devastated.

I am so sorry for your loss. Our friends are the real treasures in life and it is always sad when they die. I think that a post like this is not wrong, it is good that we have a place where we can pour out our feelings safely. Many of us can relate to how you are feeling and many of us can relate to the therapeutic value of pouring our hearts out in our writing.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss, and it's fine to write about it although I know what you mean about feeling that it's wrong. Words are insufficient to convey such grief.

'I'm so sorry for your loss' seems too little a statement considering the depth of your sorrow. You must miss her terribly and rightly so. When some one who is integral to our life passes on (and not away from us), it is hard to cope with the loss. If writing helps you, there is nothing wrong in doing so. Trust that your mortal friend has become an immortal guardian angel who will always be with you.
