Our Old Christmas Tree!

Our Christmas tree is 10 years old. My wife bought it when our oldest grandchild (a girl) was 4 years old. It is hard to believe it is still standing straight and appears not growing old. We used to replace its dead light bulbs; but last year my wife and I decided to give it a new set of lights. We now have seven grandchildren. Soon the eight will be due on May next year. Our only daughter was laughing when I told her our family Christmas tree shall last for another 20 years! Our Christmas tree’s lights are still on. It remains like it is till midnight of January 1st. That is not my idea but my wife’s belief. Good luck comes if we leave our Christmas tree lighted up till January 1st, that’s what she believes. We have been buying lotto tickets since 1992; but no good luck has ever enveloped her and me. One thing for sure I will be shaking my head when our electric bill comes mid-January! I hope everyone has a very merry Christmas and wishing you all in advance a very prosperous New Year!

@antonbunot i'm not, but i don't identify 100% with my parent's hometown, either. we don't have a tree, but we have that electric 'parol' with dancing lights out front. we only turn it on when it gets dark and turn it off before going to sleep. we take down the tree jan 6th, feast of 3 kings.

@TiarasOceanView . . . Well, you may not believe it . . but my wife is still keeping her favorite dresses she had more than 20 years ago. That explains the long life of our old Christmas tree!

Our Christmas tree is about five years old. It is getting a bad list. We will probably still use it for our Christmas tree is not that old and has maybe one more year . Happy new year.

Thanks for your good wishes. Maybe if you have each other and happy and healthy children and grandchildren then good luck has arrived.

We usually have Christmas tree (artificial one). But since it has been destroyed, we didn't put Christmas tree anymore during Christmas season for 3 years now.

@antonbunot Not really. Just seeing the streets I passed by upon walking decorations and beautiful dancing lights made me remind of that Christmas is really in the air. Plus, the singing of children to caroling songs added to the ambiance of the spirit of Christmas

@trivia79 O, I miss caroling. Back in the Philippines my friends and I used to go caroling with the girls. While my friends and the girls were singing . . I was flirting with one of the girls. That is what I miss most!

My daughter bought a tree about four years ago. We used it up until this summer when we cleared the place out and got rid of everything.

@celticeagle . . Why did you get rid of everything? I guess you get rid most of your stuff by doing a garage sale.

The tree looks beautiful. I leave mine up until January 7; I like the lights. I think these new lights don't use so much electricity.

I don't think that the tree lights use very much electricity. I threw away our old tree but I was tempted to put new lights on it.
