I called the cable company to find out how much I will save cutting it off. That is $57 a month and I want it. So,Tomorrow I am hoping that nothing happens where I need my house phone. I thought about it and I am paying for a cell phone that does not ring most of the time. I only kept the tv on for my daughter. But,it's a new Year coming and a new bill is coming in 6 days. I might as well trim the fat right now. I have not watched tv in over a month. That means I sure can live without it. I know someone who will be upset but I need to do what works for me this coming year. So,I will take that long walk to cable tomorrow.

Good for you. I got rid of satellite a year ago and haven't missed it. If you have a combo package including phone and Internet, you could probably keep the phone with your Internet. I'd like to find a cheaper Internet, but that's not happening in my area.

I wanted to keep the house phone so that I could use it. But,I have a cell phone that I only use when I am outside. They charge way too much.

@sugartoes That is what I have now for $35 a month. It's the lowest i will find for this side of town. I don't want to do minutes in case I run out.

I don't use the cable box at all. I don't pay the bill so it doesn't matter to me, and the rest of the household does use the cable. I use the streaming services and even then I don't use them all the time. Good for you getting rid of some unneeded bills in the new year.

@sharon6345 I did that last year as well. Unplugging things I didn't need. I did that for one thing so far this new year. Going to be doing it for one more soon.

I do need my TV since I watch it all day long. I don't drive so I am stuck in the house all the time. I also need my house phone for when I call my Mom in Germany

@sharon6345 You can watch Hulu through your computer or phone app. My boyfriend pays for Netflix, so we have both but I do prefer my televisions hows on Hulu also!

@sharon6345 that's the way it goes they keep raising prices & that's why we stick with the closet thing we can afford right now.

I also cut the cord with the cable company and telphone and now use a streaming service and my cell phone and I have no regrets. To cut down on some things like cable and telephone can save a huge amount of money.

@sharon6345 It is definitely loved because now there are other things that can be bought with the extra money.

I certainly spent plenty of years without cable. I spent some years without a phone as well. Living within my means always seemed like a better idea.

That is good and I live within mine as well. I just need to pay off a big bill that will be faster if I cut down other bills.

I cut off my satellite many years ago now, and never looked back. I was spending at least $100 a month yet half the time it never worked.
