Car Alarm Cringe

Yesterday I ran out to the store just to pick up a few quick items. When I got back home, for some odd reason my car alarm started blaring when I turned the car off. I know I must have hit something to trigger that, but for the life of me, I have no idea what it was. I had this happen once many years ago, and was able to get the alarm to stop right away. However yesterday, nothing I would do seemed to make it stop. I tried doing various re-locking, unlocking combinations, but it just kept on and on and on. Now in reality, it was probably going off for less than three minutes before I finally hit the right combination to make it shut up, but it just felt like forever. I live in a townhouse complex and I was very embarrassed to be disturbing my neighbors. Thankfully it wasn't early in the morning, but still I felt horrified. I had a mechanic take a quick peek at it yesterday afternoon, and it started up / shut down right away without any horrible alarms going off. Hopefully that's the end of it for good.

I'm glad you were able to have it looked at and hopefully have it solved. I've heard car alarms and they are annoying when left unattended.

You become frustrated when the dang thing won't turn off, you must have just hit a wrong button.

Yes, I was getting out of the car with some grocery bags in my hands, so I know it was my trigger that set it off. I'm just so glad it stopped!

@mawhite The first time that happened to me I paniced and didn't know what to do or how to turn it off until a fellow came over and said you need some help and took my keys then no more noise. Hr was a life saver.

My apartment block is just next to the multi-stories car park. When the alarm of a car gets crazy, and the owner does not know about it, the shrill will haunt us for a few hours. It happens a few times, and my neighbors always call the police.

I can't imagine hours of it. I'm glad I've never had to experience that.

I can easily imagine that you were embarrassed, I hope the mechanic has fixed the problem.

I suppose you put your key in the ignition and turned on the car. that usually works. Any way I hate when that happens too!

It was weird! It happened after I turned the car off and grabbed my grocery bags. I don't know what I hit, but I hope I never do again !! :)
