A Blade Of Grass

I love macro photography. And I will do just about anything to get a shot. By the time I got this particular shot I was soaked. Early in the morning just after the sun rose and the dew was still on the grass I wanted a shot of a blade of grass and the dew. Once I got the shot I thought I wanted I loaded my photos onto my computer. Many times you don't know what you have until you have them loaded onto your computer. The screen on the camera just doesn't do your shot justice. I was very pleasantly surprised when I got the shot I wanted plus a bonus. The sun glinting off the drop of dew. Enlarge my photo for a much better look.

That is a great shot, but when you enlarge it the drop of dew just sparkles. Good job!

Wow. That is gorgeous. I bought a macro lens for my iPhone. I have to get 1/4 inch from a subject to take a shot like yours. But it was worth getting wet, beautiful.

@fishtiger58 Right. When I used to use a camera, I never had to get this close, but with the iPhone and a macro lens, yikes. Only works on very stationary subjects.

@ElizabethWallace It's hard to stay still for sure. That's why you have to take a few shots to get one good one.

Thankfully I don't have to get quite that close. Yes it was worth getting wet, thanks for your kind words.

@fishtiger58 Sometimes we discover something beautiful only when we upload our photos on the computer. This happened to me when I photographed a rainbow and then I saw it was a double rainbow.

@LadyDuck Absolutely my eyes aren't the greatest so putting them on the computer is like opening a gift. You never know what you're going to get.

Oops! I enlarged it on my iPad then wound up lost in cyberspace, but here I am. What a fabulous photo!!!! You should blow it up and exhibit it in a gallery or enter it into a contest. You are a terrific photographer. I loved the glistening dew.

Thanks I don't think I can exhibit it in a gallery, there are way to many fantastic photographers out there. I'm just a retired old lady having fun with her camera, I rather just share here but thanks so very much for the kind words. Glad you like my shot.

Real photography is born of luck @fishtiger58 if we're not in the right place at the right time the shot would be missed and even when we're actively searching for opportunities we don't always get one. The pro part of it is knowing when you have that opportunity, some people have the eye and some don't.

Opppps @fishtiger58 did I mention that you definitely have the eye? If not, I'm mentioning it now. It's a shame we can't retrieve our Gather.com stuff, you had some really nifty shots there.

I am constantly taking photos of Mother Nature's amazing work. I am not a professional--just use my digital $80 point and shoot camera but I love looking at the pictures when I am not looking at the real thing!

Oh! That is beautiful, tiger! I had no clue you were a shutterbug! Have you met @rebelann and @allknowing yet? They are both shutterbugs, too. Rebelann doesn't post a lot of her photos, but she does change out her avatar almost every day using one or another of her furbabies' pictures. Allknowing posts a lot of her beautiful pictures on myLot. They are not normally close-ups of things but rather scenery and her gardens and the beautiful plants she grows there. I'm going to have to make a habit of hitting some of your threads from now on! Thanks!

@fishtiger58 I shoulda known about Ann! She is a terrible speller, but a fun person to read, anyway! I know she uses several sites online, so might have guessed you would have run into her somewhere! I met Allknowing here on myLot when I joined. She is very nice, too! You might go look up jaboUK as well, if you haven't met her yet. Namelesss is another fantastic person to know. I've known both the last two for years!

I am a shutterbug, not a writer lol. I have over 10,000 photos on my external hard drive. I have only been taking photos for about 6 years. Macro photography holds the biggest interest for me, but I love nature photos in general. Thanks so much for looking and the kind words. I have been friends with rebelann for a few years now on other sites like this. allknowing I will have to look up. Thanks for the suggestions.
