A Friends Tell All

When I was working for the Medical Center a new hire came into our section quite often and I became friendly with her. We started to go to lunch together and we would just talk usually about nothing really important until one day she started telling me about her life. She has 2 sisters and 1 brother, they all have different fathers because her mother would go out with any man. She told me all the kids grew up in foster homes because her mother was always being investigated for child abuse or endangerment. Also she showed me a newspaper clipping of a child who had been adandoned down by the river at one and a half years old and it was her. How could a mother do that to her child. She told me while in one foster home the foster dad gave her pot to smoke and then even some stronger stuff. She aged out of foster care and had no place to go so she ended up on the street selling herself for drug money. After a time she came to realize she needed help and started going to NA meetings and she turned her life around through this meetings. I became a Mother substitute to her and when she was married I was there standing in for her mother. She wanted children but it was not to be as she had to have an operation and would never be able to have children. She was very upset about this but since she does have nieces and nephews they would have to do. She is very close to her one sister who seems to have left all the hardships she endured behind, the other sister is still in denial while the brother was in some trouble and was in prison. What do you think about a mother like hers?

That is just awful! I swear there is a difference between having a child and being a parent. Just because you give birth to a child doesn't mean you're fit to be a good parent. She is clearly not fit to look after anything let alone her own kids.

@VivaLaDani13 She was the type of woman who should never have had any children because she certainly is not a fit mother.

All I can say is some women should not have had children. I do not understand how this happens, but it certainly does all the time. You were so good Marcy to care for her.

@TairasOceanView We did many things together and I helped her at the bridal shop also and with the flowers and all that type of thing. We even went camping one time with another lady it was just a girls weekend and lots of fun sleeping in a tent.

Oooh my i am not in a position to judge the mother but what she did was not right. Maybe she has a story which she has never told otherwise if it is just a habit she developed she can pay for what she did

@Missmwngi I believe some day there will be a payback for her since she never cared about her children.

@mrswhitfield How could a mother take a young child down by the river and leave her there by herself, they should have thrown her in prison right then and there.

That's pretty sad. I'm sorry to hear that she was abandoned by her mother. No mother should do that to a child. It can really damage them. Wow!

@teep11 I was shcoked by what she told me and had to hug her to let her know she was loved and admired. Your right no mother should do that to her child and a lot of damage was done.

I would say that this woman has not been able to do "the role of the mother."

@alberello75 she did not do what is right for a mother to do. She is a very bad person in my opinion.
