For Now, Someone Turned the Air-Con On, Hallelujah!

Oh yeah, uh huh! Someone turned the air-con on! At least it feels like that to me! We got precious, glorious, nay, marvellous! Hail and rain last night! Hallelujah! And then this afternoon into tonight more rain and hail again, double Hallelujah!
After what has felt like living inside an oven turned on high for the last few days, I can breathe again! That intense smothering heat has, for now, gone! I can't explain the relief!
Sadly, I heard on our news that 11 people lost their lives due to the heat, this is the worst summer I and many have ever experienced! I am not certain it is the last of it, but for my Province and my suburb outside of Johannesburg, there is as I said, for now, at last some blessed relief!
Now I can only hope and pray that the rest of the Provinces in South Africa will also get some seriously needed rain and relief, so that no more will lose their lives to extreme heat, also our farmers need rain desperately! They are in dire straits. I can only hope and pray they will soon hear the drops of rain, and not damaging hail or vicious rain, but good earth soaking rain. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers?
For now I am going to immerse myself in this cooler weather, just soak it in. Wherever you are, I hope you are having a safe, healthy and wonderful weekend!

indeed, heat stroke can really claim lives especially the elders. we do not have airconditioning unit at home, but we can manage with the electric fans and cold water to quench our thirsts.

@bluesa I cannot drink super-ice cold water though; I might have sore throat, and I must not suffer from that because of the heart ailment I have.

And we had a high of 84 degrees today and I love it--that is why I live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida--the heat and humidity!

@GreatMartin , we were at 102 to 103 Fahrenheit some places 104 with 85% humidity, with no air-con, it was more than hot. We are now at about 87, with a breeze that does not want to burn the lungs, I can also appreciate this weather now, like you do. :-)

It is always good to soak in the coolness and the rain after long periods of summer. I hate summer because of the never ending heat wave, so imagine when monsoon arrives! I feel like dancing around (inside my house of course)!

It sounds so strange that we are being buried in snow and freezing weather and you are burning up with the heat in South Africa. Wouldn't it be nice if the climate of the Earth was more balanced? I nice 78 degrees would be perfect for me. I don't like extreme heat or cold, but I love 78 degrees with a coo breeze in the evening.

@IreneVincent , I agree, a nice balanced climate would be lovely. These extremes we are having in weather lately are worrying and dangerous.

I'm glad the weather has improved for you. I actually heard here in the U.S. that there was so much hail in South Africa that a roof caved in someplace. I'm glad that wasn't you!

@DeborahDiane , yes, thanks, luckily my suburb did not get that really big hail, our hail was small and just added that freshness to the air. I am sorry for those that were hit by the big hail.

I'm glad that you got some relief, and yes, keeping them in prayer-it's actually in our liturgy to do so:)

I saw on the news that Joburg's heatwave was worse than other provinces. So sad about all those people who lost their lives. In Durban its was hot this past week but not that bad. We atleast have the seabreeze down hear. Its been raining too. Keep well.

Hi @Mbalie , it was the Northwest Province where those 11 people lost their lives to heat stroke, it is so shocking and sad. Yes, for Johannesburg that never saw these temps it was the worst ever. I know Durbs can get scary temps too, I have vacationed in Margate before, so I am glad the seabreeze has been helping you and the rain. I am just so happy with the rain here now! Keep well too.
