Fifty nine

Oh how stupid. What a thought or thoughts.
This is the last time I will make bread while I am in my fifties. This is the last time I will take soured milk and pour it into yeast and flour instead of pouring the glunk down the drain or into the compost heap.
This day will be the last one I will endure with a congested pup ear while I am in my fifties.
I do NOT expect a religious miracle in the morning. Fog and gray skies will prevail when I turn sixty. At least I will have bread to eat. Bread kneaded by 59 year old hands that will wake to the magic 60.
I think I need to take a nap and dream that my health is in the Bahamas.

This is very well imagined. But be aware that things may be different now. My body did not change from thirty to forty or from forty to fifty. When I turned sixty, however, I noticed a difference. It's odd to feel how age is changing the body in which I live. I am sure you will begin to notice this too, unless you already have had this experience.

@ElizabethWallace My left knee cap is not where God put it thanks to a horse crash years ago. My right knee makes too many interesting noises too often.

@sallypup I have found that knees and eyes always know how old we are, no matter what the mirror says. Healing takes much longer too. Such a bummer!

Happy birthday!? I can relate, I was not fond of turning 50 either. But you have to admit that you feel smarter than those 30 year old people , right? :)

Hi @rohvannyn I'm getting this night before. We did tromp out to the mail box this morning but nothing from you- I actually mailed a long over due letter to you, though. I am headed to bed cause I am sick of this ear.
