Are You Right-Handed or Left-Handed?

There are many more right-handed persons in the world than there are left-handed persons. I am right-handed and my husband is left-handed. My twin boys are mirror-image twins, so one is right-handed and the other is left-handed. However, they are both pretty much ambidextrous. I read something about this subject, and the article said that as many as nine out of ten people are right-handed and the word "right" supposedly came from a root word meaning strength. Whereas the word "left" came from a root word meaning weak. Not that there is any truth in that as far as my experience goes. It was also said that left-handed persons are statistically more likely to be geniuses. I know for sure that many famous artists and writers were left-handed and also some "famous" persons we all probably have heard of. Gerald Ford, George Bush, John F. Kennedy, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and Bill Clinton are all well know-known left-handers. What about you?

I am left handed. My parents were both right handed. My parents had 5 kids. 3 of us are left handed. Strange aye?

Certainly is unusual, although I don't know if right or left-handedness is inherited. Interesting though.

@fishtiger58 Me either. It doesn't seem like it would be or there would be more left-handed people??? I'll have to check that out. I really never thought of it before.

I'm right-handed. When I was young and going to school the teachers would try to get lefties to use their right hand.

Yes, my husband told me that some of his teachers tried to force him to use his right hand. That's so ridiculous. However, my husband could do a lot of things right-handed out of necessity, I guess.

I purchased left-handed scissors for my husband and I have a measuring cup that MUST be for a left-handed person since the I have to hold it in my left hand to read the numbers on the side.

I tried to learn to do some things with my left hand, after I got married, just to see if I could, but found it very difficult to do. I can write with my left hand but it's barely legible.
