Nap taking after the early shift

I have this awful problem that I need help with! Whenever I work an early shift, I almost always need a nap after work unless I work overtime or 12 hours in a row. However, when I work straight 8, I always feel that tug of sleepiness after that shift, and usually go home and take a nap for a few hours. In the past, when I’ve worked later shifts (9-5 and 10-8) I feel totally fine and awake after work. But, since I have had to start waking up at 4:30 each morning for the last several weeks, I am totally a sleepy zombie by the time 4 PM rolls around. What’s up with that? My only guess is that I don’t get enough sleep during the night – or not “good” sleep. That’s just my guess. I don’t feel like it’s normal to need a nap every day after work. What do you think? Do you think some people are just “sleepy”? Are you this type? What can you suggest to me (if anything)?

You will get used to it. When I worked and had to get up for a 6 am shift? I would have to take a nap afterwards because of having to get up around 4 am to start the day. It's normal. I would suggest trying to set an alarm so that the nap is no more than 30 minutes.

My naps are like 2 hours long - LOL. I think not napping would make me sleep better during the night because I'm more tired. What types of things do you do when you get off work so early so you avoid taking a nap? I feel like I need a distraction!

It seems that you need to take B Complex and iron aside from your regular vitamins if youre taking some. Its what my doctor prescribe to me since I feel sleepy and as if Im tired all the time.

Well it sounds like you are working alot and working irregular hours. It is not conducive to anyone's sleep.
