Awful Smells

Earlier today I read two different posts about smelly people. Or smelly situations. I responded to them, and then remembered a "trick" I had been told more than one time. If you are frequently in these smelly situations, or in others, like changing diapers, keep Vicks Vapo Rub in a pocket. If you rub it under your nose, that will be all you smell. I probably would find it more useful when someone has vomitted. It is very effective at fooling the senses. Anything to help survive a task you have to do. What do you do when you have a smelly task? http://www.mylot.com/post/2883580/have-you-ever-been-overwhelmed-by-someones-odor
I won a victory yesterday. Not just for me, but for all the pregnant girls who can't take their migraine medication, and people with asthma and perfume...

I just don't breathe through my nose.

Hope none of us have too many smelly situations. One person talked about being seated on public transportation next to someone who smelled badly.

@GardenGerty There was someone on the last plane we were on a month ago - she smelled awful, but fortunately she was across the aisle from us so we only smelled her when she got up. The poor people next to her!

This is a good idea. Anything that masks the smell should be helpful.

I think it would be. I did mention in one of the discussions that one incident for me was working with a person who did not seem to wash his wool clothes and so whether he reeked or not, his clothes did.

@GardenGerty It can be hard to get a perspiration smell out of clothes - or dirt smell I guess.

I used to do that as you mentioned, but with a Chinese medical oil. It has a strong aroma, so it can help to get rid of other smells.

What is in the Chinese oil. Vicks Vaporub has Menthol, Eucalyptus and Camphor.

I always keep a miniature travel sized perfume with me and wet wipes hand sanitizer.

I like hand sanitizer even after I have washed in cases where I feel "gross". I do not use it all the time but I like to have it when I travel as well.

@GardenGerty Yes, me too! I like to bring both kinds, the liquid and the wipes.

I am not surprised the Vicks Vapo Rub has a strong smell and it covers all the other smells.

It does and if a person sees you use it they may just assume you are trying to clear a stuffy nose.

I cover my nose with a cloth and hurry to get it done as fast as I can.

That does sound very practical. I never had too much trouble with diapers of babies, but more trouble when I took care of incontinent adults.

I imagine anything with a powerful smell will work, if it is something that you like.
