Cleaning out the fridge

OK, I admit it, I am obsessed with a clean fridge. I hate when left overs start building up in there. I don't like when my fridge starts getting stinky, for sure. Well I am pretty good at keeping it clean although I might slack every now and then. But the big thing is, I have a roommate!!! She is huge on going out to eat and having left overs. There will be left over boxes and pizza boxes in there for forever. I hate it for sure. The struggles of having roommates!! So from now on, once a week, that fridge is getting cleaned. And unless I know her leftovers are fairly new, they are getting thrown away. She's just going to have to deal with it, especially since she doesn't do any of the cleaning herself. That sounds fair right? That is my rant for the week. Do you have messy roommates? Are you as obsessed as me with keeping your fridge clean?

My roommates are ok and the fridge is ok too. I don't normally have much in my part and buy when I need. The store is only a few minutes walk away.

@kevin1877uk That is very true. I wish she would just keep track of her leftovers better. Sometimes she will put them in there and never go back from them.

That is fair once a week fridge cleaning! Where I used to work, they had fridge cleaning once a week. Any food left over (even new or containers) will be tossed out in the trash. There were signs alerting everyone so there was no excuses. Maybe leave a sign on the fridge

I could never have a roommate because of that reason. I always clean my fridge out as well when it's just about empty. And when things get bad i throw them out i don't just wait. I hate having my fridge stink especially when you have family over and they go in your fridge also.

There's nothing like a clean fridge. And I so wish I didn't need a roommate. Funny thing is she was only supposed to be a temporary roommate. That was about two years ago. Now shes just grown on me.

No roomates here but I do like a clean fridge. I hate when those containers start growing mold when they've been there forever. Today is my day to clean out my freezer and see what's hiding at the bottom

If it gets any kind of mold, the container gets thrown away right along with it. That just freaks me out too much. Unless it's my glass containers. Of course I have been doing really well with things not collecting mold lately.

I think you're being very fair. I very rarely have anything nasty in my fridge.

@T_gray And purely because they're so nasty, I try to chuck out stuff before it gets to that stage.

I am obsessed with thinking about cleaning my fridge. I need to get it done then I will put it on a regular schedule. She needs to date her leftovers. That way she will avoid food poisoning. Needs to be eaten or thrown or frozen in four days. I portion up and freeze all of our leftovers that I am not using the next day.

oh she is no where near responsible like that. She hardly even goes back and eats them. I don't even know why she puts them in there. She's just silly like that.

No roommates here. We do not keep a messy fridge as we both can't stand that.

That's a good way to not let them go to waste.

Fridges can cause friction in shared homes.
