Leipzig boat trip

Early in August we arrived in Leipzig in our motor-home. We had the address of our friend Christian and as we drove into his street he was waiting for us on the sidewalk. He showed us where to park safely and we then went up to his apartment. Soon after we went for a walk down to the river which is very close to his home and embarked on a boat ride on the river. Although the commentary wasn't in English, Christian translated some of the bits and pieces.
It was lovely to see so much use being made of the river with many people out on all sorts of crafts. I saw more of the South American coypus too on the river bank. There are now so many in the river that they are occasionally culled.

How did the coypus end up being wild in Germany?

@BelleStarr @JudyEv The coypus didn't end up being wild in Germany or escape from a zoo. Why should they? There have always been some. Same as beavers.

@JudyEv @BelleStarr You're right and I'm wrong. From Wikipedia: 'Originally native to subtropical and temperate South America, it has since been introduced to North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa, primarily by fur ranchers.'

That looked really nice I like the metal work sculpture ... and the mixture of old and new buildings...

I've never thought of taking a boat trip in Leipzig. But you've given me an idea should I ever go there again. But it's not very likely, to be honest. I've been to Leipzig twice for some hours during stopovers travelling by train from where I live in the south to my relatives in the east of Saxony.

We have rivers here but we don't often get the chance to go puttering leisurely along looking at the scenery.

Christian was another couch-surfer who stayed with us on and off in Australia. He stayed in the town but came out to us on weekends periodically.
