In my previous post I thought the weather was affecting my computer. Nope. Someone was trying to wiggle in and get me to call them to repair my PC. It happened a few months ago as well. I got a message on screen calling me a Eagle Communications customer, which I am. It wanted me to call them, except it was a wrong phone number and I knew it. I believe it happens because for his work timesheets hubby must go to Internet Explorer, and his old computer is not allowing it. He uses mine. I do not trust IE. Yes, I still timeout on mylot first thing in the morning.I am sure it is because of something I do. All I had to do to get rid of the people wanting me to call and Firefox not responding was to shut the computer completely off for a while. I should do it more often than I do. I am back with no problem at all.
Or rather, my internet provider dislikes cold weather. When it was installed the technicians said they would have to come out to the main connections for the...

I don't have any problem yet with my laptop. My only problem for the past days was lack of time to visit you, my friends, here in myLot . . I was so busy doing houseworks and, of course, going to work. I have a full time and part-time jobs since my wife ceased working for health reasons. Anyway, I am back.

When this happened before I called my provider before doing anything else. I had forgotten that what happens is you let this person help you with something you did not need and then they try to make you pay them a huge amount.

Maybe this was a wake up call to get you to turn it off completely more often.

I am glad that you got that figured out, I always have to refer any computer issues to my husband since I am not so savvy in that aspect.

@GardenGerty Our firewall won't allow for anything like that to come up.

That is so annoying. It's as if they're forcing people to fix their computers. I would be very careful with that. I'm glad you're shutting it down. That should teach them.

I am sorry this happened to you GG. I have a chromebook and never get any attacks or viruses. It has been wonderful. I do miss windows at times, but I can manage fine with not having to update.

Lately I've been having trouble with firefox and I've been using IE. Anyway I had a scam phone call today. I wasn't home so they left a message telling me that if they don't hear from me or my attorney they will be taking legal action and "things will unfold badly for me".(their words) The problem is the beginning of their message didn't get recorded and I have no idea what they are trying to convince me I have done. I can guess that it is the owing taxes scam that has been going around. Annoying but kind of funny too.
