Busy cleaning and organizing

My children made a big mess in the house two days ago, so I have been busy cleaning them up. It's good for me as well, as I have always been wanting to organize and clean my home for quite a long time, though I have always been doing it, but too slowly, it's still in a mess. Now, I finally removed all the distractions (especially mylot), and focus on cleaning and organizing. It actually doesn't take as much as I thought to organize them, I just need to be more focus and spend perhaps two hours for a room. There are still some areas undone, so I still need to work hard on them. Hope I'll still be able to find time to catch up with mylot. Do you like to clean or organize your home?

I just wrote a post about organization. I think kids should be made responsible for helping clean up their own messes. My kids didn't like it sometimes but they did it and it was a rule even when we had company over.

I agree @celticeagle, it is best if they learn to clear up themselves. Your job as a parent is to come up with sensible storage for them

@Auntylou ...Something that is easy for them. That's true.

I am getting my children to help as well, but there are still a lot of things we need to organize and de-clutter, and they might not know how to do, so I have to do most of them first. As @Auntylou said, I am preparing a "home" for everything, so my children will be easier to take those things back to their home. I also have too many stuffs that I need to declutter and organize, hence I am doing them all at once. I agree with children taking the responsibility to clean up and take care of the home as well, I am still learning or finding ways to make this a habit for my children. They do it sometimes, but not all the time.

Yes, I understand that. I used to only spend time on cleaning on weekends when I was working too.

@SIMPLYD I actually prefer to do it myself. I just don't know how to ask others to organize things for me, perhaps if I do so, I'll end up do it myself.

@kaka135 If we don't have a maid to clean our bedroom , then we have no choice but to do the cleaning ourselves.

Although I like my home to be clean and organized, but I personally don't like cleaning up my house since it is a very tiring housework for me. Whenever I decide to do so, it will spend me at least serveral days.

I actually like cleaning and organizing, I enjoy the process and also the result of doing so. It's just that, I am not always organized and hardworking, so things get piled up, and I always need to take some time to organize them again and again.

@youless That was a good answer to him! I am very lazy as well. There was once my friend came to my house and told me my house feels like a home. She is staying with her mother-in-law and there is a maid helping to do the housework. She said her house feels more like a hotel. Though I don't like my home to be too messy, it's nice to feel at home.

@kaka135 In fact my husband said he has never seen such a lazy woman like me... I am not good at doing the housework like cleaning the house. In the past he said that his colleague's wife cleaned the house so well and therefore his colleague even dared not to step on the floor. Then I teased him when you were home, you always felt welcomed

I agree, if you are focused you will get the job finished and completed quicker. Sometimes I would go back and forth with other thoughts in my mind (unfocused) and it'd take much longer.

Yes, it's always good to stay focus, but it seems like we always try to do multi tasks at a given time.

@infatuatedbby Yes, I agree with that. I am learning to do one thing at a time. Still learning.

Yes, I think that as well. It seems like a forever job for me. But, it's actually part of my fault or problem as well, as I am not a very organized and neat person. Though I like cleaning and organizing, I tend to mess things up often as well. So, I always repeat the same process again and again - organize, mess up, organize again. I am still learning to declutter and make myself more organized, so I don't fall into this trap over and over again.

@Auntylou That's good. Now that my downstairs is much more organized now, I make a habit to tidy things up together with the children before going to bed by 9pm. So the next morning, we'll have a clean area. Hope I can keep this up.

2 hours for a room? how large is your room? It only take me less than 30 minutes to clean my room.

It doesn't matter what the size of the room is, but the amount of stuffs inside do matter.

When Vince went away for six weeks I had a wonderful clean-up and declutter. But I need to do it again now.

I think it's easier to do the clean up when I'm alone at home. I can be more focus without having to spend time elsewhere.
