Not everyone has studied philospohy. Even if you have, you may not have covered such people as Descarte or Niche in depth to know many of their great quotes.

that's the fun part of philosophy. you can read a book a hundred times, and every time you pick it up again it will have something new to tell.

i'd say it's a very good spiritual exercise. not much different from those many other philosophies suggest. as a matter of fact, it also echoes something of the christian "other cheek", the greek ataraxìa, stoic philosophies and buddhism...
