Three days at Manchester United's stadium

It probably sounds a bit odd but this week I'm hanging out at Old Trafford, the world-famous home of Manchester United Football Club. So am I playing football, watching football, or doing anything even vaguely associated with football? No, absolutely nothing. The company for whom I work are having their first annual sales 'shindig' for two full days and then I have to hang on a day longer for some training - not kicking balls, training on a project management system. Last night we had a reception in the team's museum, surrounded by cups and trophies, shirts old and new and displays about the team's glorious past. Sad that I'm hanging out in a meeting room with a table full of cake.

I don't want to see any more cake for a few days now. When I shut my eyes, I can still see it.

Actually it really wasn't boring but it was very hard work and my legs ache from standing all day and I'll ,most likely wake up with no voice in the morning.

I assume that by now it is a table half filled with cake.

@boiboing Surely scoffing it all at once would save the effort of having to carry it.

Now it's a table totally empty of cake and all the staff from Old Trafford went home with boxes of goodies. I just can't see good food go to waste.

@Asylum You can't imagine how much there was. The sweetest thing was the young girl working at the stadium whose eyes lit up when I said she could take anything she wanted. "REALLY?" she asked, "Are you sure you're serious?" So we told them to call all their colleagues and come and clear the room.

What kind of cake are you having. The whole thing sounds good to me.

Many many different types. I struggle to choose a favourite.

While I am not at all interested by sport and football, I am interested by the table full of cake. It must be hard to be reasonable.

Cake is my work life - well cake, brownies and muffins to be precise.

@boiboing I remember you wrote about bringing samples to Amsterdam. I wonder if this is a pleasant work like it could sound or, just a job.

They have lots of conference facilities - but it's easy to forget it's also a stadium. So we crept out to find a fancy room with access onto the stands.

I would wander off for a bit. You have to create your own fun.
