I just heard a story about a time back in the 1700's during the revolutionary war, when a group of Moonshiners Appalachian mountain men, grabbed up their 30 ot 6 rifles and, took out a regiment of British soldiers. I can't remember the name of the General or what ever he was, but he had been threatening to take their homes and, hang them all, he said even God himself couldn't take him off the mountain, he was right, just not in the way he had hoped, he ended up buried their as the moonshiners defended their homes and, went back to the mountains to make moonshine, the moonshiners also built the railroad up there.

My dad used to run moonshine, I think it was back in the 1940's. He and one of his friends used to tell me stories of some of the crazy things that would happen! It's ironic that not long after that, he joined the Army and when he got out, he became a police officer!
