E.coli: How Can You Protect Yourself?

I was surprised to learn that you can protect yourself from the E.coli bacteria in several ways. 1. Always cook meat until the juice runs clear. Besides that you can mix many foods with natural bacteria killers. 2. Adding one tablespoon of pureed prunes to each pound of hamburger meat can kill more than 90% of any E.coli present. Two to five teaspoons of garlic will also accomplish that. Who knew? 3. Other spices, such as, cinnamon, oregano, cloves and sage are known to kill E.coli bacteria. You can season your meat with these spices for extra flavor and protection but you still need to cook the meat thoroughly. Right now there are several reports of Salmonella and Listeria infections in the USA and other places. It has been said that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart died of trichinosis, a food poisoning caused by worms in meat that was not cooked thoroughly. We don’t have to worry about trichinosis much anymore. Thanks to modern medicine and food preparation, meat-borne diseases have been mostly eliminated. It’s also very important to wash and rewash any produce you plan to eat, no matter where you get it. You can also soak your produce in vinegar water for 15 minutes, but some fruits can absorb the vinegar and that can affect the taste. Plain old water is the best. Do not use chemical washes or soap of any kind. And always wash your hands before preparing food for yourself and others.

I have a friend who is a nurse and she also dabbles in supplements and health foods. She was telling me all these things, so I wrote them down and decided to share on MyLot

Yes, this zika virus is spreading here in the USA, but its people that have visited a foreign country that is bringing it back here. It's especially scary for pregnant women, because of the birth defects that it can cause.
