A good title can catch readers attentions, encourage them to stop a little longer, maybe even long enough to read the whole piece and start commenting, or help usher them on along. Let me show you some examples of what I mean. (and I told you Abby, I was using yours as examples, lol!). The following are ALL titles of past posts by one Abby Greenhill on mylot. She has a talent for catchy titles. 1. Inches matter 2. I'm half-baked and my husband is getting sauced 3. I love black lace, what about you? We all have a limited window to catch a reader's attention before they move on to the next possible discussion. The title is like a headline on the front of a magazine at the check out counter. The better one's stand up and say, "No! Stop and Read Me!" Do your titles catch attention, or do they (like many of mine, as I am still learning to write better ones) stand up and draw in the crowds? To see the previous installment in this series, the link is provided below.
Does your Mylot post stand out? Does it draw in followers and encourage participation? Fear not, if it doesn’t, it certainly could. I realized as I wrote the...

I think I'm better now at writing titles than I was when I first started online, but I know this is one of my weaknesses!

Thanks again for that good advice. I think choosing a title is the hardest part of writing a discussion.

I try to come up with some good titles, but many fall short. I do better on my feet I guess.

Sometimes I come up with creative titles, and sometimes I don't take the time to think of one. I have a great deal of trouble coming up with titles for my novels.

The "Inches Matter" title is really eye catching and so is the baked and sauced title! I must admit that I have to go look up these titles and read the posts! I also have to pay more attention to my own writing.

I like titles that at least tell people what the articles about - mine tend to start poem, film / book/ movie review, etc., diary entry - it then gets to do what it says on the tin as much as possible
