What do you think of birthdays?

I’m not big on birthdays. Not because I’m worried about age, or anything like that (I’m turning 40 tomorrow) but it seems other people make more of a deal out of it than I do. Maybe if I was born in the summer and had a bunch of friends over for a cookout every year I would be more interested. But I was born in dreary February and most of my friends are hours away. And when the answer to the question, “What do you want for your birthday?” is just, “Money,” it doesn’t seem all that special.

I've seen people throw huge parties every year. To me that's way too much. On my last birthday I asked for tacos and a movie at home. Simple and I was happy with it.

I am not big on birthday too. To me, the day of birth is not really our achievement. It is the achievement of our parents.

Happy birthday I usually celebrate my birthday with a small group of relatives and friends. Sometimes we go out for dinner and sometimes we eat at home. I turn 40 in the September this year. My husband turned 50 last year, and we are going have a celebration in our home. We will invite our families and some friends.

I am at that time of life where my birthday is a depressing reminder of how old I am and reflection upon my life and looking in the mirror and wondering what the hell happened to that kid.

My viewpoint is exactly the opposite of yours. I don't have a big party or anything to celebrate my birthday but I do celebrate. I make it a point to buy a birthday cake for myself, maybe some silly little "gift" for myself and even some cards. I also fix a very special dinner for myself. I have the attitude you might say that one should celebrate the day of their birth in style.

Happy Early Birthday to You! When I think of birthdays, my first thought is about birthdays for kids - but that's because I have kids and it seems like we're at kiddie birthday parties all the time. As for my own birthday - eh - admittedly it's not as spectacular as the kids' parties - but I'm just glad to have survived another year - decently ok. We might go out to dinner as a family and have a dessert - and that's fine with me. My friend threw her own 40th party. She had given her kids parties throughout the years and she felt it was time for HER to have her OWN party. Her family made fun of her, but she said it was time that she finally did something special for herself - and she did - AND it turned out to be a very nice event for her.

Happy bday to you. for me, celebrating birthday reminds me how much i've grown over the year, and makes me see who remembers me from time to time, sadly not every one does.

Some people don't even strive to celebrate their birthdays.

My birthday is in January. Not much better weather-wise. I usually invite some women friends for a chat. This year I postponed it, however, because we're moving and have to pack things.
