When I graduated in my high school, I decided to take Physiotherapy as my major in university. My parents were so supportive of what I am aspiring for. One week prior to my enrollment day in university, my father’s sister came to visit us. She learned of what I am going to take in tertiary level. I though my aunt will be excited. A big slap on my face when she had so many comments and disagreement with my parents. First, it needs a lot of money. Second, measured my intellectual capabilties. Lastly, insulted my parents if they can provide enough money for it. At that moment, my heart shattered into pieces. With my parents strong determination, I enrolled and pursue my major in university. I let go the bad incidence that broke my heart. I studied so hard throughout the years and never wasted time to reach my long term goal. Eventually, I graduated with the said major and found a good job. During the course of pursuing my career goals, I could see the faces of my parents that they were so proud. They had proven that my aunt’s personal theories are all wrong. Thus, it is a big slap on her face of what she had said before.

I remember some of my aunts telling my father that he was wasting his money educating a girl, but I am glad that my mother hung in there and I was able to get my education.

@AnneEJ That's what I felt during my time. I am also glad that my mother had her biggest role for having my education.

I'm so glad that your parents were so supportive and didn't take any notice of your aunt.

@jaboUK I am glad they were. I am still not close to my aunt since then.
