Reflections Of A Newbie

It's been three weeks since I joined myLot. I'm not classed as a newbie anymore. I can tell as my posts don't come up on new discussions. It has taken time to become used to interacting and writing comments that can promote another discussion. I am getting there each day. I still have a problem with certain topics which I think will achieve good responses only to find they don't. The only gripe I have is people following me and don't interact. Do others have this problem?

All posts go into the 'most recent' list as soon as they are posted. Then they are pushed down as new posts come along. The people following you are irrelevant if they don't interact. Just ignore them.

Perhaps followers are overrated? Have you ever walked around shopping centers? Something like that maybe.

@Bluedoll I can't say I've noticed being followed at a shopping mall

@Gillygirl,You are not alone,my friend,to have this problem. Most of us including myself are on the same boat with you.We all have followers,in fact, hundreds of them, but only one or two of them actually supports us by liking our posts and commenting on them. They follow us and then forget. I,too,do exacting.I don't have time to visit all posts by those who I follow.

I'm sure we all have this problem. You don't have to do anything about them.

@Gillygirl Unless you follow them back their discussions won't appear anywhere so you'll never be bothered by their posts. I don't think it is a concern at all.

I dont have that problem, but it is fine, I always get someone replying at least one. Good enough for me Gillian. I am glad you are enjoying your time here. Yes you are broken in now.

It does take time and that is an interesting observation and a consideration for anyone new just joining. Maybe they could think it will be instant payment after a few posts. Not so. As for interaction I've put who does or doesn't respond behind me. I look at it as random without logic. That might just be me?

There are the lurking type who never comment and there are others myself included who don't have time to get round to everyone each time I'm on myLot

@Gillygirl and @Bluedoll I have so many followers, if even a fourth of them would comment occasionally I feel I would be very busy. I do not comment on all of my followers at all or all I follow. I just flitter like a butterfly to whatever grabs my interest. I believe someone said you are a new user for two weeks.

Swings and roundabouts, generally - some days I can be deluged with no new post, other days a post will attract less than a dozen likes/responses.

@Gillygirl Chickens we got - roosters we're a bit shy of, something to stir up the coop a bit, perhaps a fox would do the trick!

Take it easy !I have been here for more than 5 years, but I have started fewer posts .Due to either culture difference or my poor English ,some posts that I consider to be interesting turn out to fall flat .

I wouldn't penalise members with English as a 2nd language, in fact I did teach some of your fellow countrymen English. Everyone has a right to be on this site.

It depends on the times I guess. Most of my discussions are seem to be getting replies so I guess you also have to make it as personal as you can for people to be interested. It's like one way of knowing you.

I look at this like a spare-time activity, like a bar or an arcade or a bowling-alley. I don't go to one o` those places hoping that things happen on some kind of schedule (except for Karaoke)---if I'm hopin to meet someone at 'a certain time' there, and they don't show ... my plans don't change. I think I remember back when I was a 'newly old-time newbie,' and there'd be little-or-now activity on my discussions (and I felt like I had contributed to all the discussions already). Just be patient, is all I can say

Hello there, so here I am after 17 months on the site now. I know who to interact with and am very happy with the level of responses on my posts. Thanks for your comment on this old discussion.

There will always be people who do not respond. I just keep moving along and forget about those who do not reciprocate with responses.

I don't worry much about the number of followers I have. Some are here daily and are great at interacting, others are rarely spotted.
