We moved to my current home almost 14 years ago. We moved from a town about 5 miles south of the Chicago city limits to about 50 miles south of Chicago. I am so much happier here. Less people and way less traffic. The first year we were here we had several flowers growing in the lawn. One of them was snowdrops, they grow all over the lawn and it's just beautiful. Once the snow melts we should be getting them soon. I took a picture of them last winter and wanted to share. They are so pretty.

We live in a far west Chicago suburb and I am not sure I have seen those beautiful snowdrops here, but I bet if I pay attention I will get to see some of those beauties.

Yes they seem to like lawns better than gardens. We have transplanted some of them into the flower gardens, but they do way better just in the lawn. I hope you get to see some in your area. They are pretty small as well, only a few inches tall.

I love snow drops. That is a beautiful picture. Two years ago we drove from Connecticut to Rockford, Il and then to the Quad cities and Springfield by way of Sheffield and Dixon. We really enjoyed Illinois.

Thanks so much. Rockford is on the west side of the state and I'm on the east side. I am very close to the Indiana border.

They are cute little flowers, I had plenty in my gardens and they went almost all lost when we landscaped. I want to plant more.

@fishtiger58 They do not blow from seeds, but from small bulbs, they are for sale in winter here, big packages of bulbs.

@LadyDuck Right bulbs, I am so not a gardener. I will have to look for those. Probably won't see any until end of summer for fall planting.

Snowdrops were the first flowers I ever planted when we moved to our house. I only saw them twice when they weren't covered in snow!

Beautiful photograph, the pure white color stands out to the eyes. Do people actually harvest and use these flowers?
