The public library is a great online resource

I'm in the process of doing research for my first book, and I've discovered something about my local library that I didn't know. I went online to check their catalog for a certain book I'd like to borrow. The library didn't have the book (they will get it for me via inter-library loan), but my search turned up a number of articles on the same subject. These articles are readable on the library's site. But they are not otherwise available on the web. In other words, if I hadn't found them while doing a search of the library's catalog, I wouldn't even know they exist, since they don't show up in Google searches. So, I've been able to get some great information that I didn't find anywhere else, and it's all due to my local public library. Even in this digital age, libraries still have a vital role.

I surely did not know that friend. It is great that there is online access as well.

For libraries to have physical books as well as online access gives us the best of both worlds.

That's good to know. You tend to think anything that is available is available online. Obviously that's not quite the case.

@RonElFran Having said that, it's still pretty amazing what is on there.

It's been a while since I had to do research at the library because I can use the university's searches and articles, but you're right - I remember how good it is. Congrats and good luck on writing your first book.

Thanks, Lori. I went for a long time relying totally on the web for info, but now I'm back in the library fold.

Would prefer that smell from books to get into my nostrils than just tapping fingers for reading.

I can't say I'm all that into the smell of books, but I get what you mean.
