Today is the meeting of the minds....

United States

....our minds against the IRS! Guess who will win? You got it, Uncle Sam. Seriously, it is tax day and yes, we pay a professional to do our taxes. There are several reasons for that: .. They don't charge much. .. I like someone to be responsible (other than me) if errors are made. .. I am running out of toner so let someone else pay to print page after page. .. I like the nice little packet they give me, all neat and tidy. We get our taxes done at Farm Bureau and we have to go there anyway for other reasons, so we'll kill two birds..... Hopefully the few bucks we get back will buy dinner! Photo: pixabay.com/en/america-uncle-sam-impersonation-41776/

I have nothing to print, they send us forms, almost fully pre-compiled, I only have to add some numbers and figures, nothing difficult, it takes 10 minutes.

Luckily, right now, at this point in time, my husband does the taxes and he does it online electronically. If anything happens to him and I am left to do the taxes, I know nothing how to do them, so I would have to take it to a tax preparer like H&R Block.

If that time ever comes - go to an account - HR block hires people who don't have a clue how to do taxes.

@LeaPea2417 We used them when we first moved to TN and they messed it up so badly we had to get the manager involved - there was quite a screaming match between me and the stupid woman who couldn't add 2 plus 2 yet alone figure out taxes. We weren't the only ones who complained about hr block. We use Farm Bureau for insurance and they have a tax lady who works out of their office two days a week..that's who we use, she is an accountant.

when we can afford to do so, I prefer this, so yes, someone ELSE is responsible for mistakes

These are good reasons to have your taxes done by someone else. Hope it is hassle-free.

It was smooth as silk - too bad the woman has no 'bedside' manner...she's rather dull to talk to!

Here in Canada we don't have to have our tax papers filed until the end of April but we always do ours earlier. I am hoping to get a little back this year too. Blessings.

I did mine awhile ago and got more back this year than i did last year since I paid interest on my school loan so that was nice. Still haven't got my ny refund yet but that always takes longer. I hope all goes smoothly for you and you get some back to spend on yourself atleast.

I can't believe that I wrote about doing my income tax today too. I also like the peace of mind of having someone do the taxes for me

Tax time is not that big of a deal. I don't make that much so.

We don't make anything - well, Social Security and a small pension. So we don't pay much tax to begin with.

@AbbyGreenhill I actually know quite a few people who don't even bother because they don't make enough. It's kind of sad what some people have to live on these days.

We have our taxes done too. He comes to our house which I love. I have a inherited IRA and have to take a required minimum distribution every year, I don't want to mess that up so I have my taxes done by a professional. He is also a good friend so I know he will do a good job for us. He came over last Wednesday and we had ours done. We should get our refund next Friday.
